Thanks.
For years I've tried different ways of setups:
1/ a lot of live rock, lack of substrate,
2/ a lot of live rock, a thin layer of sand substrate that was for decoration only
3/ a little amount of live rock, deep sand bed
An important element of all my systems was refugium.
Size of my sump is 80 cm / 60 cm, in which refugium (38 / 60 cm) with Miracle Mud, some of Chaetomorpha and some live rocks .
Lithing: power modul ATI, 10 x 80 W of T-5 mix
Pumps: the main pump is Iwaki MD 70 and two circulating pumps Iwaki MD 40
Salt: Marine environment
Method: Balling
Sorry, but my English is very poor.

Sounds like your running the Ecosystem Miracle Mud system.

Great job!!

Three months ago my tank looked like this. I had to cut down most of corals.
Currently I'm running Eco system, the method of Leng Si.

Lunar.....amazing...very nice.

I notice you have a deep sand bed now. Do you like it??

Also what is the mix of T5 bulbs. Are they ATI bulbs?? and what kind??

I also notice you run the balling method. Do you also dose chloride free salt to keep the chloride down?? I run a similar method (calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride) but do not use chloride free salt. We call this the Randy method.

Thanks

I haven't had any problems with DSB so far, yes, I like it.
My ATI powermodul consists of 10 fluorescent lamps: 4 ATI blue plus, 2 ATI aquablue spezial, 1 ATI blue acinic, 1 HAGEN Power Glo, 2 GIESEMANN Power Chrome.
I don't dose chloride free salt, but I change 10% of water every week.

All my corals aren't from natural environment, but from others aquarists, particularly living in Germany.

Thanks for all kind opinions. I have read RC forums since 1998 with pleasure and interest altough I have problems with understanding sometimes.

Lunar, amazing tank and coral color!!!!!

Since you're running Leng Sy's ecosystem, how often do you vacuum your sand in your display? How often do you change your sand?

Once again, love the tank.

Amazing tank Lunar! How big is your Refugium? How do you light the Refugium?

Thanks!
Whiskey

The volume of my refugium is 110 l. It is lighted by 3 ATI fluorescent lamps 24 W aquablue spezial (11 000 K).

Do you light the refugium opposite of the Main tank? Or do you have it lit 24/7?

Thanks,
Whiskey

I don't change my sand and don't vacuum it. Nassarius and Trombus snails keep DSB stirred up, so my sand substrate is free of uneaten food and detritus.

Thanks.

Opposite of the main tank.

Thanks Lunar! I'm trying to do a skimmerless RDSB SPS tank right now (setup 1 month ago),... it's small and experimental, your information is a big help :) Not many people run tanks this way.

Great tank!
