Newbie 20L Setup!

Honestly that tank looks way better than my first attempt at a saltwater tank. You'll be amazed at the things you can only learn by getting your hands wet. My first tank was a 29 gallon with a t8 bulb as well. I had two chromis, a clown, and a royal gramma for a few years before going to college. I never used rodi. I still can't believe the success I had after doing everything wrong. You seem to have a great base knowledge to start off.

Oh, and as far as your question of fish, I have 2 clowns in my 20 long and planned on those being the only fish buuuut...I may end up getting a shrimp and goby pair down the road as they are so cool!

Is there a particular species of shrimp and gobi you guys go with to have the proper relationship with eachother?

Pistol shrimp usually with a goby, they are sold as a pair in most places, for they don't always pair in our tanks.

Alright, it's been a while since my last update. I switched out the light bulb to a 50/50 and it looks SO much better. I added some more rock, chaeto, and two clowns.

Any Recent Updates?

The only update is I'm experiencing what appears to be a diatom bloom. Some of it has started to die off on the rock. I have reduced the light to 8 hours a day and have reduced feeding to once a day.

Diatoms have cleared up a lot. I finally sprung for an RO/DI unit from BRS which should be arriving in the next couple days. Already tired of buying water by the gallon.
