I've picked up completely destroyed LR (completely coated with algae, aiptasia, etc) from people before for dirt cheap. I boil it to turn it into good reusable rock. However, I've always done it in a big pot OUTSIDE on the BBQ grill and I stay upwind of the pot. There's lots of nasties that came make you real sick even beyond zoanthids.
Various species of animals in the Zoanthus Genus have varying amounts of toxins with palythoa and protopalythoa being the worst. (In short, as a general rule, the prettier it is, the safer it is). However, don't use this as an excuse to be foolish around the prettier animals. An old friend of mine go squirt in the eyes and mouth just like Trottman did. He basicly lost a lot of movement in his arms for over a month.
