Next Meeting Group Snail Buy

I'm pretty new and have only posted here twice. Don't know about meetings, but if they are located in central iowa, I would definately be interested in 50 ceriths and 25 or so Astreas.

If someone would please let me know about membership, meetings, etc?

"We pack and ship on Monday only for FedEx delivery on Tuesday. All orders/payments must be received no later than 2pm Friday for shipping the following Monday."

That's from their webpage. I don't know if they make exceptions to that or not. I don't think they would stay too fresh from Tuesday delivery until Saturday pickup at a meeting.

Who would we ship them too? Maybe if someone had an old 55 laying around they could throw the stuff in for a few days until the meeting then we could divvy it up.
 
What would be a good mix for a 125 gallon with a puffer. I would do any of those kinds of snails and I especially like hermit crabs and emerald crabs but not sure if he would eat them. Any suggestions?
 
I'd say check out the fish only and agressive forum and see what those guys are using in their tanks.

Thats awesome now that we have someone that works for the government we can finally confirm that theory that fish are planning to take over the world
 
It look as though it might be a while before we have one centralizied meeting. Do we want to set the order up and do the individual shipping to the seperate people or towns?

Still would be worth doing as is right now:
Astreas 340 at .30
Ceniths 335 at .20
Hermits 135 at .24
Emerald crabs 2 at $5

Next next price drop for the Astrea and Ceniths are at 500.

We could wait until the local area meeting and have the Board members that go to all the meetings take the snails from area to area or we could just get a main order and split it.
What do you guys want to do?
 
Dont matter to me, but by the looks of jasons tank i would say sooner the better. :D

I could get mine from jason i could grab matts and craigs as well..........
 
I checked with them a couple months ago on shipping and for 200 snails it was going to be $60. If we do individual shipping from them each area i'm sure will have to pay the $60 shipping charge.

How soon are you guys looking to do this? I'm not in a huge hurry so I could wait until the next meeting. Just more scrubbing the glass by hand until then! :rolleyes: Plus if we wait a little while longer more people may jump in on it.
 
I ment having them ship the whole order to one of us and then have us spilt it up and ship to each other. Were all with in 1 days UPS ground range of each other so it would only add like $7-$10 to the individual people.

And there is still the option of waiting til the area meeting and having someone that goes to more than one take the snails to the next area.
 
I have a 30g i can either donate to who ever wants the shipment to come to them, or send them to my place and everyone can grab their stuff from me. I am about centralized as this group buy is going to get and drive to CR often, and ThillT drives to DM on the weekends. I need some snails, lets get on this!
 
I started the group buy thinking we were going to have another meeing with the whole group soon. Honestily I wasn't thrilled about having them all come to me and have to ship them everywhere. I've got enough tank stuff in the air but if your volunteering we could probably still get it going. We just have to get hard numbers from everyone and figure out the money part.
I'm still in.
 
The next Iowa meeting will be the Omaha zoo tour IIRC, so i dont think anyone would want to get their snails on that day letting them bake in the car. and sorry, i dont want to step on your toes with the group buy, just need some snails and $3 a pop from petland is crazy.

If they come to me that is fine, i will bag them all up. I just ask that a day or two after they arrive that someone from each area meets me to grab the clean up crews. I didnt see anyone from Des Moines interested in this buy, bueller? So for the areas below if someone would volunter to drive to grab this stuff we are a go.

D-Port: I would drive to the atalissa exit, #265
W-Loo: I can meet who ever in Hiawathia, Boyson Rd. Exit #25(or highway 13/151 intersection depending on who drives down)
Crapids/Iowa City: I can either drop them off at your place or you can come to mine. (as long as i get a tank tour)
