Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a great Christmas, and all your tanks are doing well.

As usual we will hold our membership drive this coming January, on the 15th at 7.30pm at the UCO venue.

We will strive to have as many door prizes as possible to be raffled out among the members that have paid their 2011 dues to the club. Already we have some ince items, and more will be added as the day of the meeting approaches.

Right now we have:
a Typhoon RoDi unit,
Auto top off unit
Mag Pump
Led Lights strip
Gift Certificates to Local Stores
Gift Certificate to Coral Morphologic

and a bunch of other stuff....

Membership dues are remain ing at $25 for the year.
This allows access to all of our programs including:
The Comas Library
The COMAS Equipment
The Frag Program
Free Entry into all of the Door Prizes at Meetings.

With regards to the COMAS frag program, Lynn (Lytehouse) and I have been talking with ways to improve this, and the corals available. To this end we will be doing 3 Frag demonstrations a year, each with several corals. It is our hope to cover most of the varieties of coral inside a year, such as mushrooms, zoanthids, leathers, and stoney corals such as montiporas and acroporas.

Also durig the year we will be holding lectures including, but not limited to, pests parasites and treatments, making your own live rock, application of coral dips and quarantining practices.

All in all, 2011 is shaping up well. I hope you choose to join us agian for the coming year, and please tell anyone else you know about COMAS.

AS more door prizes are obtained I will post to this thread.

Details of how to pay membership via paypal will also be posted shortly.

Regards,

Paul.

Membership dues

Recently I was talking to another club about membership dues.

Our dues are our best assett.....

Tell someone to come to any meeting and join by paying $25

Every meeting they will have the opportunity to will door prizes, many worth much more the the 25 bucks;

Every month every member has access to the library;

Every day every member has access to the equipment;

Every month every member has access to the donor program;

Every day you are an email, RC post, pm or phone call away from information for your tank from people that have 5 to 20 years of salt water experience.

I've never, not one year, paid $25 and not walked away with more than that in stuff.

I don't know how a club doesn't charge dues.... but I'm glad our does.

If you wish to pay your dues in advance, you can do so by sending money via paypal to comasokc@gmail.com

Please mark the funds as a gift, doing so will exempt that payment from the standard fees.

Please include your name, address, phone, email, and RC name in the messages/notes box.

In the past, at our membership drives with our prize drawings, we've had a pretty substantial line for paying dues. I would request on Denise's behalf, that if you have a paypal account, you pay your dues this way. It will allow them to make your membership card in advance and you'll be able to pick it up at the meeting.

Done!

Are we still doing associate memberships? I've got the calendar marked for this meeting, no way are we missing.

Looking forward to 2011 and all the great meetings... our "resolution" is to make it to more club meetings this year!

Yes, associate memberships are $10.
To be eligible associates need be family members with same home address.

Paul.

The Frag program will be available at this meeting.

If you have anything ready to return, please let Lynn know.

I know Celia is excited to be a "Member" I don't think she understands it but Its kinda funny. See you all there.

just wondering

just wondering

At the meeting do people bring their children?

I have a 6yo girl who is pretty well behaved for a 6yo but shes still 6yo! :mixed:

just wondering if other people bring their kiddos?

and she wants to know if she joins lol does she get a chance at a door prize?

I have been cross posting this membership drive into another club forum that I belong to and I am a little confused. Please correct and inform me.

A regular, single membership is $25.00.
A family membership is $35.00. (is that just for spouses, or spouses and kids?)
An associate membership is $10.00 (what the heck is this? Is it just kids for a paying adult member? Why wouldn't you just buy a family membership?)

Wouldn't it be easier to say membership is $25.00 plus $10.00 for each family member that joins?
I'm sure I have this all confused. Please help.

I sometimes bring my 3yr old. And she is a member this year for the first time. :)

I'm thinking it's $25 for primary membership, and then $10 for each family member/partner that lives with you on top of your $25.

I can see where the confusion is though, the verbage on the Comas.com site is "We also offer an associate rate of $10 per year for family of regular COMAS members..."

So it is probably missing a word somewhere to make it "$10 a year per family member" as it reads now it is confusing and makes it seem as if $10 covers your whole family... which it could and I could be totally wrong.
