At the next meeting I will present a talk on aspects of nutrient depletion. In essence, we will have an open discussion regarding problem nutrients, what they are, where they come from and how to remove them from your system.

I hope you can attend.

It will be at the UCO venue, as usual on the 9th of October beginning at 7.30pm

Regards,

Paul.

Now I have more time to write:

To expand on the topic of the month.
I will present some slides detailing the strategies for removing excess nutrients from a marine system. There are many ways to do this, from water changes through to algal scrubbers, carbon dosing, biopellets, ozone, coil denitrators etc.... all of these strategies will be covered in detail together with the pros and cons of each.

Excessive nutrients may be the single most prevalent problem in the hobby, hopefully after this talk you will have a better understanding of why wet dry and biowheel filters are not suited for marine aquaria, as well as what individual methods may or may not suit you.

As always, we will have a raffle for members.
We will also have a time set aside to discuss the officer positions for next year since these will be voted in at the November meeting.

Hope to see you all there,

Paul.

This is a great topic.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it... have the at home wedding reception the same day. =( Maybe I can call a taxi and sneak out!

Hope the meeting went well! I really wanted to go but had to go to a work function with my husband. :( I look forward to the next one though!

Thanks Paul for the talk and discussion.

I had some things reinforced and picked up some new info.

Your knowledge seems endless, but your willingness to share with us is always appreciated.
