So now that i got jays old tank up and running what to do now???

I want to get the system mainly for LPS and zoa and want them to grow fast!!!!

This is what i have now in the tank

20gal sump
90gal tank
2x 250w 14k phx
2 65 pc blue- to wake up and put everything to sleep. I dont run this with the MH. I Have 4 but I think it is just to much light.

acuaC RX-1 CAL REACT

NAC6A SKIMMER

Im going with the mangrove in the sump.

I was think of the APEX. But The way the system is right now it does every i need it to. I do a test of Ph every other day so it mite help there.

Was thinking about some dose pumps.**

Don't know if there is something else that i should look in to. Ideas?

Is there something that i can use to keep mag up ??

If you get the dosing pumps, then you can get a big jug of esv bionic Magnesium. Daniel sell thems and they are not that expensive.

you dont run the halides ??? i sure would. thats the halides i was running on my 90 remember sal. and for growth i got the ushio 10k bulbs, and i would set them on a timer for even 4-5 hrs a day. cuz it does get hot.

+1 on the APEX! :) Any controller could automate the water temp, lights, dosing pumps, ect. The main advantage of controllers is consistency. Steady water temperature, lighting and salinity will help in the growth of your system. What are you using for ATO?

I'm thinking that he does not run the T5 when the MH's are on.

while i cant login and see my tank on my phone which is soooo cool and the main reason i would get a controller or a more automated tank. my lights are on digital timers, and my heater is digital as well, and would beep if the temp drops too low or goes too high and would shut itself off. so for my hob setup i dont see getting a controller. so i think it would be a down the line thing for me.

Yeah I have 4 pc lights. I only use 2 of them . I run my MH 4 hrs a day . I don't run pc with MH. 14k seems to be a very nice color.
The controller really wouldn't do much. I have everything on timers right now. The only thing would be able to see the salt and ph at all times.

Im using the ATO I bought from you. The tunze

I would say that the advantage of controllers are not just acting as a timer, but also being able to react to a condition in the tank. For example, during the day your tank begins to get hot due to the halides. The controller could be programmed to turn them off to prevent the tank from overheating or/and turn a fan on to cool the tank. Not trying to sell you a controller :) and not a must have in any tank but that is why I like mine!

Oops! Poor memory. I should have remembered that! :( That’s what you get to look forward to in later years!

yup correct, i know there are way more uses for a controller. just those were the ones that came to me at the moment. id love one for the next tank maybe. im getting the water to only go up to 78 set at 76. so im gonna get some small fans to turn on when the halides go on. or have more current on top at that time. basically im doing alot of things to not get a controller when it would have been easier if i had gotten one to start. haha.

for the cheaper side (haha all costs) id go with a couple of tunze. but jay might disagree but i always thought 1 mp40 wasnt enough. 2 would be perfect imo. do it yourself wavebox would be neat and half the price.

not at all, i had my mp40 full blast half the time. around 3500-3750 gph.

mp10 is around 1500 gph

and mp60 around 7500 gph

___in the long run if you get anything smaller than mp40's you will be wanting more flow.

dont listen to pedro, he is a flow maniac! LOL! two mp 10s should work for your 90. it will give it the nice water movement everybody is looking for. its like spliting an mp40 in two so you can have flow coming from both sides of the tank

yeah i had the 4 ft 90. no dont trust eric he has a 1.2345 foot wide tank he dont know !!! haha.

its great flow but wouldnt reach the other side fully. id say one mp40 with something anything else on the other side min. but again you can turn the 40's down to whatever you want.

and i was using different modes like every week or 2. switch it up for the corals. never anything constant. never even the same spot on the glass.

2 MP10's set on opposite sides set on wave motion. More then enough flow for a 90. when i set mine up, i am getting 2 MP10's for at least 150 gallons. Why people use them as straight up power heads, I don't know. They are actually designed to make waves in systems. A wave is more efficient in getting particles and detrius out then running them as a single stream (power head). It also mimics the natural waves in the reefs and corals thrive in it.
