Dropped by Aqualife today cause I hadn't been in there in a long while and wanted to see how it was doing.
Well I saw a Coralife 1/4 hrse chiller on the floor with the front panel haning off, the dust filter was all bent and mis-shappen, and genreally looking like a hunk of junk..
I asked if it worked to which the guy working said "No idea"
Asked how much for it, and got it down to $60!!!!
I'm always in for a DIY for that price..
Got it home fixed the dust filter by filling my sink with boiling water and placing a hot pan on top of it, so as to iron out the plastic again.. And it worked!!!
While that was melting back, I plugged it in to get an error E1 on the screen, time to investigate. Well I found the temp probe had been unplugged. Plugged it back in and; bam the unit started right up and began CHILLING!!!
It's a pretty quiet unit too!! Not very loud at all..
So then I cleaned all the salt build up off of the unit,
and then I re-attached the dust filter that was now the correct shape and tried to put the front panel back on again. But it was missing the clips for the screws to grab, So I grabed my drill and some new self tapping screws and just made new screw holes to hold the front on.
Yeah it does not look "factory" now that I did that, but hey!!
It RUNS and it was Hecka CHEAP!!
For about 1 hour of love (TLC) and $60 bucks, I got a $700 chiller!!!

That's Crazy!! Just thought I'd share..
Also Aqualife lost almost all their LPS in the power outage, and their entire frezzer full of frozen foods
They only had a tiny generator and were switching it from system to system to try and keep them all up..
