Nickel Magnets in tank?

MeuserReef

Welcome to the next level
Would Grade N40 nickel plated magnets be harmful to any marine life in a reef tank?

Im thinking of using some Neodymium magnets for holding my powerheads in different angles but I dont know if nickel will harm anything

Yesterday I dropped a neodymium magnet (with nickel coating) in tank by accident, and can't take it out unless I break the tank, does anyone know the damage to the coral? my tank is about 210 gallon, and the size of magnet is 30mm*5mm, please help me.........

Can you glue another magnet onto a stick and try and remove it that way?
Or possibly even glue it onto something flexible that you can manoeuvre into where the rogue magnet is such as semi-rigid packing tape?

I'm assuming it's in a difficult to access location, maybe you could extract it this way. Packing tape can be manoeuvred into all sorts of locations, used to be how I helped folk who locked their keys in their car (-:

I'd do whatever I needed to do to get it out. Should actually be pretty easy. They make long flexible grabber that should get you to wherever you need to get to. I've got two - one is a grabber, the other has a magnet in the end. HD/Lowes has them.

As for where to get coated magnets - www.kjmagnetics.com has any and every size you might need, both bare and plastic coated for a very good price.
