I have decided to start a 20H and move the livestock that I have in my current 20H once I am finished with my one in progress. I will be going sumpless, so now I have a LifeReef overflow and a Mag7 that I will no longer be using, so if anyone is interested just pm me. I will be picking up a premade stand this week, and painting it black this weekend. Anyway, here are are some photos of the progress so far:

I will have more photos up as soon as I add any additions. I will be getting it filled with RO and rock as soon as I get my stand and paint it.

because my tank that i have now has some cracks and scratches and the back was never painted and i don't want the oak trim anymore. my fiance and i are going to be moving into a house as soon as we get the money and we are going to be doing a modern black/white/red themed house, and i figured that the black tank would look a little better.

Looks nice! Starboard, eh? Do I smell SPS & lots'o'flow? :D
that would be tough sumpless wouldnt it?

Looks good so far...

i too will buying a new 20 in place of the twenty i have..fortunately the tanks are cheap...

i built mine in haste and never realized i could have gone with external overflow..oops...now i have and made an external overflow but no tank to put it on...just kind waiting for the wifey to go on vaction so she doesnt notice the tank swap...LOL i really hate the internal calfco overflow...in the way of my new lighting plans...

keep us posted

yeah, actually i have a few sps right now and i love it. i like high flow tanks, especially with starboard because it just looks so clean. i plan on keeping sps without a sump because i will be getting a remora hang on skimmer in the next month and my mj1200 and tunze 6045 are great right now for flow. i will be swapping out my mj1200 for another tunze 6045 though so i believe that i will have more than enough flow in there...hopefully ;)

thank you. there was a thread on here about modding the ac70 i believe? i did the same thing with a 50 but a slight mod for the baffle. with not having a sump it will allow the pods to go straight to the main tank without being eaten up by the return pump. i just need to find a small light to go over it now.

would you guys recommend this skimmer and the filter box? I don't have a skimmer at the moment, and I would like to order one tomorrow. I have heard good things about them, and since I won't be running a sump I need a hang-on. The filter box would be nice to skim the surface as well as hide the powerhead.

i also meant to ask in order to slow down the flow going through my modded fuge, can i take my ac20 powerhead's impeller and switch it out with the impeller that came with my powerfilter, now fuge?

I would think you should be able to, as long as they fit. If that doesn't work, you should be able to trim down the blades on your existing impeller.

I love that HOB fuge...I'm planning on adding one of those to my tank now that I've rid myself of that awful Eclipse hood....how tough was it to do?

it was so easy. all i did was take out the media basket and cut the sides off and use the grate and silicone it to the return and then i used one of the sides and siliconed it to the inside to use as a baffle to keep the sand that i will put in it from going up into the pump. easy as that.

will this little light fixture be enough to clip onto my hob fuge for the chaeto? it's small enough to clip right on and not take up any room, but i just want to know if this will be enough light?

I think there are better out there for the $$$. I would go Deltec/Bermuda hob's & modify a surface skimmer to fit.

that's just the problem...i'm a terrible DIYer unless i have specific directions, and even then i am not much of a handyman...yet...i do have to learn though soon seeing as i will be getting married next year and moving into a house with my fiance and her son lol. anyway, can you guys thing of anything else that i may need to do this time around in order to prevena ny mishaps int he future? i will be going barebottom (starboard), 2 tunze nanostreams, skimmer, no sump, hob fuge, i have my 150w sunpod. i would like to set up an auto top off since i will be going sumpless i will have less water volume...so more salinity changes with evap...any ideas?

I really like that skimmer. I run it on my 125 and it does a fantastic job. The only thing I done was to get it with a mag 3 pump rather than the rio. You can buy it with the mag pump already in the box. The filter box can only help, can't hurt. I don't run myself, but only because I didn't want it to take up space in the tank. As it is I don't have a drilled tank so all my equipement is hang on.
