Niger Trigger??

So the word around town is that niger triggers are somewhat reef safe.

1)Will they mess with softies or zoa's?

2)Can I put my urchin in my fuge because my wife won't let me get rid of it?

3)Would a huge Coral Banded Shrimp stand a chance?

Adam

U love to put NT in the tank , but your kinda hasitant ?

Have no fear ! And put that bad a$$ in the tank.:D

Mine does not mess around w/ anything in the tank. He watch's me all the time, saying ?" wheres the food man, come on" :bounce2:

I have one right now in my reef tank and have very little problems. He did kill a small clown once and ate a cleaner shrimp, but never touched any of my corals. That is all the trouble i have had with him in almost 2 years so i would say they are reef safe.

I had a long spine urchin in a ten gallon for 3 months with nothing but a whisper filter and he did fine so i think you would be ok.

dont kid your selfs, they are mean little buggers, mine would take on a clown trigger. was the niger a bad mo fo, or was the clown a wimp????

So I just got home from Sea Schor and Beyond the reef.

I got a great Gorgonian from the Sea Schor sale and my Niger Trigger from Beyond the Reef.

It's crazy but my Bi-color angel is beating the Crud out of the new Trigger and he's about a half inch smaller. I hope this doesn't continue.

good decision. that was the first fish I had and I loved it. Mine used to get his but kicked by a large jewel damsel. By the way the coral banded shrimp is soon to be a goner

I agree that your banded shrimp will soon be lunch...fwiw my niger picked on all of my softies once he matured. I had to move them from the tank. You name it...he pickes on it..

IMO, it's hit or miss with the trigger.

I've got one in my FOWLER. He is the mellowist trigger I've ever had, but I don't think I'll trust him in a reef. All triggers explore their world with their mouths. You can be fine for years and whammo.

In any case, good luck. Niger's are cool.
