Nigripes(Blackfooted clowns) questions...?

Hey, well as some may know, due to certain circumstances over the last few months. I no longer have my onyx perc pair as well as some other things but story for another time. I was recently in Ocean Blue and i saw these two clown fish in their display 58 that totally sucked me back into the idea of getting a pair clownfish again. So after some searching as the name they gave me there was wrong. I was wondering if anyone locally had any experience w/ A. Nigripes what kinda pricing. I've never seen them before so i am assuming they are a little more rare. Esp a pair. Any info anyone can give me. i've tried searching on here, but we all know how the search engine works, or doesnt... I know we got some other clownfish gurus here.

I bought my pair at Ocean Blue so they should know what they are called because they are the ones that told me they are nigripes. Before that I only have seen them in reef books. Some call them Rose clowns or Rose Skunk clowns or Maldives clowns because they originate from Maldives. I think I paid $30-$35 each...it was 2 years ago. I picked a big one and a smaller one and they paired up so I got lucky. They started spawning 3 weeks later. Anyway they are pretty aggressive toward other fish, not as aggressive as a Maroon clown though. Stick with False percs, true percs or skunk clowns for a more passive fish.

Also they are pretty poor shippers so they have been hard to find lately. I may try to raise a clutch pretty soon. Just need to find some rotifers.

if you have any luck what so ever. count me in as a buyer. only fish will be the pair, cherub angel, 6line, maybe a goby or blenny of sorts and a few blue cardinals

Ok. I will post up if anyone is making rotifers and will give it a try in a few weeks. They should do well with those fish you have in the tank. What I mean by aggressive is that they bite at my hand if I move any corals near them...also they chase away fish that get too close to them. I never had my false percs do that.

I see that John at FAOIS got in some A. Latez. clowns. SITC had one too...did anyone buy it? Very expensive clowns!

I've never heard of Roti-Rich. Can you raise clowns with it? Are you sure you want some clowns raised on a product called Roti-Rich :lol:

http://www.aquaculture.ch/product/hatcherie/food.html 2nd product down. hmmph... looks like you can, it smells nasty tho. a buddy of mine used it for a brief stint of trying to feed corals, i do think i recall it being made in Fl. smells like YEAST. bleh....
