Nigripes

A couple years ago I had a pair of nigripes and they did great and lived for a year or so until we had a power outage for a couple days. They seemed bullet proof.

Fast Forward a couple years and I I have an unstocked 60g tank I wanted to put some fish in. Hey, what about nigripes clownfish! Ordered a pair online, fed-ex messed up and next day air turned into 2nd day air. Lost one in the shipping. Ordered another single fish and all seemed well. Well, two days ago the first fish (smaller of the two and probably a male) stopped eating was breathing hard. Orginally thought brook but skin was still looking good. Yesterday I come in and the female was picking on the male. I isolated the male but it was too late. Come in today and male is dead.

I did more research and it seems this can be a characteristic of the fish. Anyone have other experience, tips etc with it. Clownfish females are really agressive but usually let up after a while.

Advice?

Nigripes are one of my favorite clowns as well. From the many we've order in the past, they are horrible shippers and are usually DOA or soon after. My best advice now is that Sustainable Aquatics has some CB Nigripes. If you can find a pair, you may have better luck. HTH
