I just bought and recieved my Nikon D3200. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on how to take pictures of my aquarium.

The stickies at the top of this page will be your starting point. Also, I would google or search this sub forum for particular settings. Where you start from is also based on your experience level... if you are new to DSLRs completely, a lot of what you will want/need to learn will go beyond the specifics of aquarium photography. The main pointers in regards to aquarium shooting is learning to WB your camera properly, shoot straight through the glass to minimize distortion, leave all other lights outside the aquarium off to prevent glare off the aquarium glass, and for coral shots use a tripod. Start shooting away and posting and then everyone will be able to chime in and help you out :)

Great advice. The tripod advice is probably one of the key pointers here. Keeping your camera still while in your hands is tougher than people think. Additionally, you will more than likely be shooting at higher ISO's and a tripod can typically knock out a couple scrolls which would make your shot overall "cleaner".

You may want to join a dedicated photography forum in tandem with this section. As someone that has been doing photography for many years, I will tell you that shooting aquariums is no easy task, and I wouldn't recommend for someone that doesn't know much about photography to dive right in to it in this subject. However, I understand that a camera purchase can sometimes be for a specific cause, in this case, aquarium shots, so I will simply say to buy a tripod, even a cheap one, and get some shots up here and we can tell you where to go from there.

don't forget to read and re-read the manual. not much for tank photography, but you need to learn the basics. aquarium photography is not the easiest to learn. fish won't hold still and terrible lighting for the camera.
