Nikon d7000

So I just bought this camera last night. I wasn't shopping for a camera just looking around because I bought my wife a Samsung hybrid last year and we both hate it. Anyways we couldn't pass up the deal we got on it (Nikon is discontinuing the d7000 because they just rolled out the d7100). Just wanted your guys thoughts on this camera. Did I buy a dinosaur or will it be a good camera that we can use for awhile?

It came with an 18-140mm lens and we bought a fixed focal lens but doesn't fit on the camera[emoji58] so we gotta take it back. Wanted to buy a macro lens but they didn't have any in stock, special order kinda thing.

Just curious what would be a good macro lens that isn't a burden on my wallet? I'm new to photography but my wife has had experience with photography (only film though, and once that died she sold her cameras [emoji17] so we are both newbs with DSLR).

The D7000 is basically the new version of my D90, which I love.

Only issue I know of on the D7000, back when they came out, I recall folks were complaining about oil getting on the sensor. Not sure if it was just in the first round of them...or something that plagued it. Hopefully it will be a great camera for you.

If you haven't looked him up yet, check out Ken Rockwell's site on your specific camera - he's good at getting you to understand how to get the most out of it.

Other than that, start posting pics in the weekly items here. :)

For a macro on the cheap, look at Tamron's 90mm or Sigma's 105mm. For a little more the AF version of Nikon's 105mm should be good on that camera also.

I have a D7000 for a few years and am very happy with it. I use a macro of 100mm from Tokina. It is not that expensive and is quit good. Ken Rockwell's site has a review on this lens.
