Nikonisis and other Aquapod owners

You'll notice in your paperwork that the Aquapod comes with a 290gph filter pump. I think this is crap. While browsing some other forums, I found that some people had traded their Aquapod pump out for a Maxi Jet 1200. Seemed worthless to me, as they are rated nearly the same (MJ1200-295gph/Aquapod-290gph).

They were right. The Maxi Jet is much stronger than the stock Aquapod pump, and it is also a direct, no mod fit.

They also said the MJ1200 produced less heat than the stock pump, but i don't know about that yet.

I don't have heat issues with mine, as I have the open-top HQI version. I seem to remember yours running hot.

Yup, using no heater at all now. Seems ok though 81 during the day and 79 at night, so no issue.
Although my retarded heater DOES NOT turn off when it reaches the correct temp, so it's unplugged, which worries me

--> Linn still

OT: I LOVE my wrasse, we thought he died, but he just hid(very well) for 2 days and now he thinks he owns the tank.

I just got halides today for my Pod!! Can't wait to try them out, and this was supposed to be the cheap tank....

Floridareefs, I purchased mine for 250$ plus tax, but that was with pc lighting.

Disc, nice tank. I think the baserock is looking and coming along fine in that MH pick. Where did you get your MH, is it the 70w or 150w sunpod 20 inch?

o.k. so the same setup as Rob's. Will be nice, Im jealous. I have an established 90g, but want a 24g to venture into sps, so the MH combo is a must for me. I am thinking of a 20 inch 150 hqi..
