Nip marks on mantle of Crocea?

MechEng99

aka Reef'd Up
I just bought my first crocea clam. About 3 nights after having it, I woke up to find extremely tiny nip marks all around the edge of the mantle (just the very edge...no other marks around the clam whatsoever...makes me think it's a fish since they could easily swim up and nip).

I've spent the past week waking up all hours of the night to go peer at my clam with a flashlight to see if I could catch the predator in action...but no luck. Any ideas? Will it heal these nip marks?

I have:

3 damsels
2 engineer gobies
1 scooter blenny
1 sea hare
narcissus snails
ceriths
nerites
stomatellas
mexican and regular turbos
blue and red legged hermit crabs
zebra hermit crabs
1 fighting conch

I will around 4pm tomorrow after finals...and when the lights are on.

I spent a good while trying to catch the fish to get them out and eliminate potential causes.

I think I might have found the problem...a whelk. I noticed this lil guy...and he didn't blend in with the rest of my narcissus. Does anyone have any good sites on IDing these? I read on Melv's Reef about them, but I want to see more than just a couple of pictures.

Will try to post pics tomorrow.
