Nipped Clam

Im sorry if this info is on this forum somewhere else but i am wondering if a wrasse picked at the mantle of a clam how bad could this be for the clam? if it was only one time isolated to one side of the clam. 2 or 3 of the "humps" in the clams shell have the mantle fully retracted while everywhere else it looks healthy. It has been like this for about 4 days, would it heal in that time? does it heal?

sorry for no pics yet, im having computer problems. But any advice helps.

Its a golden teardrop maxima and its grown enough to the point where most of its food would be produced through photosynthesis. at least i believe so, sorry, clams is not my most knowledgeable area.

I dont know first hand never owned a wrasse but I was told they are very bad to have with clams they will eventually pick at is so much the clam will die.

No don't dip it, this would probably kill it. Cut a plastic pop bottle in half and fill it full of 1/4" holes for circulation. Place the bottle upside down over the clam to shield it from the fish.

Once this is done either remove the fish or the clam from the tank, one has to go or the clam will die.

my fairy wrasse has never touched either one of my clams. i will watch out for this in the future
