Nitrate and zoo Question (Pic Intense)

I am starting to think my nitrate problem in my 24 gallon nano is due to a high bioload. I have taken the following steps to lower nitrates.

30% water change

No feeding for 3 days

RESULT=nitrates still between 40-80 ppm

I recently added a medium size lemonpeel angel to the mix. Before there were 2 clowns and a baby lunare wrasse (he will be moving out soon). I have a patch of zoo's that is melting away (pic provided) could this be my source of nitrates? I also dont understand why my zoo's and button polyps look the way they do. is my lighting going bad? Is it the nitrates? Someone help me out. (I also just realized my photo period had accidently been moved from 10 hours halide to 11 hours, could this have caused the problem with the zoo's melting?)

well i decided to do some more test and lo and behold the water i was using to make my salt water has a nitrate level of 20-30 ppm. probably the reason my nirtrates were so high....thanks for all the responses! Don't buy Deer Park RO water from the store, It has higher nitrates than the tap.

Lemonpeel angel in a 24g tank? Wow. Anyway zoos are funny like that. They come & go as they please. Invest in a ro/di unit that way u don't have to worry about nitrates. I always tell people if ur going to invest in the hobby don't be cheap. Zoos melt for all kind of reasons and ur nitrates may have been the cause.
