Nitrates going down...browned out SPS turning green?

well heres what that baby blue stag looks like now. kinda hard to see with the blue+ lights but its the same light i had running in the other pictures so u can tell a lightening in the brown coloration.

notice the blueish/green growth at the base.

i just added some sps corals to my tank about 4 days ago. they were brown in the bag they were in. so i am guessing it was due to stress. yesterday and especially today i started to notice that some of my sps corals are going from brown to a greenish color. as soon as i read this thread i got so happy because i guess it is a sign that they are going to turn to there true colors soon. by the way my parameters were always were they are suppose to be from the beginning so i think they were brown due to stress

I see similar effects with some of my surviving acros. In treating for AEFW, all my acros went into QT under less than ideal conditions, and after repeated nuclear strength dips, the ones that didn't totally die, were all brown. As they came back, many of them went green(never green before this). I am still waiting for some of them to come back around, but it's been months. The new growth areas seem to color much better.

im guessing that the new growth is what the coral will actually look like and the browned out area will revert to those old colors, but not for a long long time.

It's sad when I look back at some of my acros picture before the crash =( all colorful and then boom... brown.

Before the fail..

After the fail and transferred to new tank

(P.S, it's on the left island... that brown thing)

As of right now the tips are bluish and polyp are greenish again... hopefully it will come around

A couple about 3 months I have 2 that have been green for 4 months but getting bigger and getting more polyp exstension.

I see. Really takes some time to revert back to their original colors even if you already corrected your water parameters.

Good luck with that! Im sure it will but like everyone says, it will take time. Its so sad when they start turning brown.

Just an update...

Nitrates have gone down further. As of last night it is already below 5ppm but not yet at undetectable levels. Other originally brown SPS are turning green as well. Hope this keeps up.

i have the same problem here! All my sps were brown. Now most of them are green, and each day i see some changes in color, but only on tips and base. The center part of the sps are light brown, but if think it's working to get color back.

Went from 20 NO3 to less than 5 in a 3 months period
