Nitrofuran dose

Hi,
Treating an Achilles for cloudy eye. couldn't find Furan locally so using a humnan AB with Nitrofurantoine instead.
Iprefer to just do daily baths with water mixed with AB. what dosage for the baths would you recommend or if I have to treat in Q tank what concentration and how often should I dose?

One of the problems with an "antibiotic bath" is the fish isn't exposed long enough to be effective. You really need to dose it in a QT.

But let's back up... "Cloudy eye" can mean a lot of different things; not always a bacterial infection.

Is one eye or both cloudy? Have you done a FW dip to rule out flukes?

It's a 4 yrs old Achilles previously healthy with frequent few white spots...
This time got a severe white spot outbreak, with both eyes cloudy and areas of discoloration did 2 freshwater dips with no sign of flukes. My main concern is that it can't see food, it follows food but misses it. It's in a Qtank already but i prefer to avoid QTank AB treatment unless really necessary. Will run Overrated UV to slow down ich. Treat for cloudy eyes with baths or food soaked in AB in the baths till it can eat. Then run a couple of prazipro cycles.. All my fish had a double treatment with prazi so doubt it's flukes.
Any advice on my treatment plan?

If the fish is in QT and you know it has ich, I would treat for that first & foremost. You can safely mix antibiotics (to take care of the cloudy eyes) with copper (to take care of ich); or dose with antibiotics while doing tank transfer (if you prefer a chemical free solution to ich). Many time a bacterial infection is "secondary" in nature to a parasitic infestation, and will just keep recurring so long as the fish is being afflicted by parasites. So, it's a never ending cycle until the source of the problem (i.e. ich) is fixed.

Also, whatever DT the Achilles came from is infested with ich and all fish in there need to be treated.

So what dose of nitrifuran do I use and can u do the full dose of copper and nitrofuran?

250- 500 mg per 20 gallons. Treat every 48 hours (24 hours for severe problems) with a 50% water change before each treatment. Treat for 10 days.
