So I picked up a GBTA a couple of weeks ago and my False Percs have no interest in it. They are still very young, well an Inch and an Half now. Think they will ever make it their home?
They may host it, they may never. They could host it in the next week, or a year from now. They could even host a coral instead. They'll do what they want.
Clowns don't need an anemone to survive or even to be happy.
A lot of people start into sw to do the clownfish/anemone combo but don't realize that in a tank an anemone is not needed for the clownfish and they don't realize that keeping an anemone isn't easy, especially for someone starting out in saltwater.
I just noticed your tank is 3 months old.
How much lighting do you have? How often do you do water changes?
My tank is now about 8 months old. I do a 25% water change every two weeks. I'm running 126 watts of PC's now. I picked up the GBTA from the my LFS for $5. It is still pretty small but it was not looking so hot when I got it. It has great color now and is nice and plump. It gets 1/2 a silver side every few days and has stopped moving all around the tank. I realize that my clowns don't need it to survive, they have beed doing fine hosting the silicon in the corner of my tank. I just would really like it if they would host it.
How did you get 126 watts of pc over a 20 gallon? Just curious. I have a 20 gallon with 130 watts of pc (2x 65 watt bulbs).
How small is the anemone compared to the clowns? If the clowns are bigger then the diameter of the anemone then it could become stressed if the clowns start hosting it cause they would be beating it up.
Thanks for pointing that out lance. It is 130 watts. I have no idea where I got 126 from? The Anenome is only about 5 inches across. My clowns sure do love the silicon.
