No-Ich???

Anyone ever try the product "No-Ich"?
http://www.fishvet.com/no-ich.htm
Got an infestatoin that darn near wiped out my tank, and have too many little buggers that I just flat out can't catch. My LFS recommended this, so I'm giving it a go... My biggest concern though is what it will do to the cysts more than the trophozoites/trophonts... It's been my experience that encysted parasites aren't going to necessarily die out in a mere 4-8 weeks (though I am talking of human/mammalian parasites).

Thanks,
Dave

Burgess and Matthews (1994) were attempting to maintain a viable population of C. irritans which could be used in later studies. To maintain the parasite populations, they needed host fish in order for the trophonts to feed and continue the life cycle. Each host fish was only used once in a process of serial transition such that none of the hosts would die or develop an immunity. While the procedure worked very well and enabled them to maintain populations for some time, the viability of the populations decreased with time and none of the 7 isolates they used survived more than 34 cycles, around 10 to 11 months. They suggest this is due to senescence and aging in cell lines is well recognised in Ciliophora

Read the pinned threads in the disease and treatment forum and forget about trying products that claim they cure ich.

well, the point is probably moot now... Only one chromis left. So, I reckon I'll just let him croak, and spend the next two months building my coral collection...
