No polyp extension

I've had the same issue for awhile...mine are slowly coming back. I thought it may of been from dosing too much Kalk....maybe throwing off the PH. I have since bought a PH meter and PH seems ok....do you dose Kalk/calcium?
I drip lime water. Just ran some tests.

PO4 betweem 0.1-.025
CA 400
KH 9.9
nitrates around 15

I didn't test the PH.

PE at night, no PE during day = fish nipping. I finally got rid of my coral beauty after much soul searching and now all my corals are bushin out.

No PE at night, no PE during day = P****d off corals. Get all your parameters in check and stabilized.

I'm working on getting the PO4 down. It;s actually come down pretty good compared to what it was.

having same problem here. Thought it may be red bugs but none anywhere on acros. PE good on montis, minimal during the day now and very slight more at nt. Acros are growing very good so not goin to worry bout it now

At least I'm not alone here, but still wonder why. I got some really beautiful blue color millie frags a while back. They were very "hairy" for lack of better wording. Eventually they retracted as well. :(

I have found that SPS need superior water quality, in the past I did little water changes and hardly ever cleaned my skimmer and had fair polyp extension on the corals, now I do a water change monthly and clean the skimmer neck and collection cup weekly. My polyp extension has never been better. I have a frag from Micki and it has the largest polyps out of any of my corals and they are out 24/7 since day one. My advise, is just continue on the road you are on and get the changes finished and keep up on the water changes and skimmer cleaning. The tank will settle and things will get better. Remember patience is needed in this hobby, Give the tank some more time to mature.

Thanks Marinelife, that's what my plan is. Hopefuuly I can get the PO4 to 0 and nitrates lower as well.

And if that doesn't work - try removing the yellow clown goby :)
Man I would hate to do that. That is one of my granddaughters favorite fish. :(

She had the problem before the goby was added

I think you are correct. I hadn't thought about that. I had very few SPS before he was added. But I have never had polyp extension with any SPS.

i have been having the same problem on a bunch of acro frags that i got a few weeks back. i would campout watching my coral beauty waiting for something to happen. but lo and behold i watched my yellow clown goby nip at my acros over and over again.
now that i know i'm going to get that little guy out as soon as possible.

i love clown goby so much... but, after i remove it.... all my sps stay till now.
i lost 2 colony of acro due to clown goby nip on it...

I agree with Marinelife, I would think the other sps would be extended, just not the one the goby is on. I have sps on both ends of my tank. The goby usually stays at just oe end. I don't think the coral are smart enough to remember if the goby perched on it yesterday. So, that leads me to believe there are other issues. My guess PO4 and possibly nitrates.

One other thing to note. Igot a shipment of SPS a while back. They had wonderful polyp extension for about 3 weeks. They started retracting and haven't come back out. It took them a while. So my guess would be after so long a time in my water they weren't getting what they needed, this was their response.

I'm looking for a home for my clown goby - my coral beaty doesn't touch my corals, but that little bugger constantly nips my sps.

Here is a thought I just had, what about Macro aglae, how does the effect polyp extension. I was thinking I read something about it.

well not sure, I have to find the info, There was something at one time about having them in the same system, bunch of bull I think but need to recheck it just incase
