No Purple Algae

I don't want this stupid purple algae in my tank. I have some spots of cool bright red algae and some bright orange. How do I encourage these less common colors?

I don't think you can. Coraline just happens. Given time various morphs may occur. Over the years I have the regular coraline, green and then thick encrusting reds and purples.

Time and Light - What type of light do you have.

Also, the type of rock. Different types of rock can produce different colors. Fiji is normally Purple.

Did you guys read the question? He doesn't want coraline other than the colors he has:lol: Calcium and light will help with growing coraline not prevent it;)

Fiji live rock is predominantly covered with a purple coraline growth once matured, Tonga , and Carribbean live rock is more rainbow colored, and Marshall Island live rock, has more red , orange, and yellow coraline algae growth than the others.

Well i have an awesome purple sea urchin that keeps my coraline from getting to thick because that is all it eats. If you dont want coraline get a coraline eating urchin.
