No UPS No Fish

On Monday night I placed my first DD order and have been waiting all day for the fish to arrive. The QT is up and running, UPS status is "In Transit: On Time" but it is now after 9pm.

Some of you must have gone through this before, what happens with overnight air parcels that don't arrive and how long can the fish maintain? The fish shipped from Wisconsin to North Bay.

Also; if the fish do show up tomorrow alive, should I still float for 15 minutes, confirm pre
matched specific gravity and dump into QT?

Thanks for any advise,

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago from DD. All 3 angels arrived the next day alive. A little on the rough side, acclimated them all by drip method. 1 eventually died almost a week later.

make sure that you notify LA/DD that the package was late.

At 8pm I emailed LA/DD and let them know. I tried calling & emailing UPS but couldn't relay any info in their automated after hours systems.

Do not drip acclimate them, the bag will be filled with ammonia. Once you start drip acclimation the the PH in the bag will rise causing ammonia burn.

I read on here when ever you ship fish to yourself match temp & salinity & dump into QT. when purchasing from lfs use drip method.

UPS updated status this morning to: "On Vehicle For Delivery Today".
Historically UPS hits my neighborhood late afternoon/early evening, will the rescheduled delivery most likely be on their normal route, i.e. this evening?

Follow the exact directions that DD gives, that way if anything happens to your fish any "guarantee" they give can not be disputed.

Jalisco, that's sad man

I feel sorry for you man. At least you should be happy that it was liveaquaria, they will deal with the problem in a dignified manner.

Similar thing happened to me yesterday, UPS was supposed to deliver yesterday. The UPS updated the status saying "IT WAS DELIVERED at front door," But when I checked the front door there was no package. First of all I have a porch, not just the front door.

I Called UPS and they said they delivered it. But I know that was a lie. The said their GPS tracking shows that the driver came and delivered it. I called aquariumdepot.com and told them, they said they can't help.

Please read the email sent from Aquariumdepot.com:

Hello,
Unfortunately, we can NOT control the third party carrier delays, HOWEVER, we have seen packages in transit for two weeks and still have items arrive alive. Please accept the package and let us know the outcome to take further action.
Thank you and Have A Reef-Tastic Day :)

I did not know that Reefs2go.com has changed its name from Reefs2go.com to Aquariumdepot.com. I would have never placed that order if I had know.
I thought Aquariumdepot.com was a branch from marinedepot.com. So confused now...............

Accept the package but try to get the money refunded from liveaquaria.com, because of the following:
  1. The fish may be dead (if this is the case, then it is easy for you to get the refund, i know it is kind of cruel to say this)
  2. The fish may be alive, but might have endured internal injuries and might die within the 15 day gurantee, you will get your money back in this case as well
  3. the fish may look ok but might have sustained internal injuries like brain damage, organ damage etc... and will live for just 15 days and will die later in few days. You will lose your money in this case
  4. The fish might have internal injuries but will live for a long time. So you may have brain damaged retard fish but you won't notice it? lol
  5. You may have a retard fish that will act retarded and you will notice it? live like that for a long time. This might be an eye soar. lol
  6. you might get a perfectly healthy fish? possible but very unlikely

To me it seems like it just got screwed, and they need to refund the money, because the customer was promised a healthy fish and the possibility of a healthy fish can happen only with on time delivery. Customer will remain unsatisfied and unhappy when a fish is delivered two days later. Liveaquaria must refund the money and usually they are real good about it.

Yeah that's about it in a nut shell. I'm surprised I didn't get a response to my liveaquaria email.

They will definitely email you. But in this case you have to call them and explain if the fish are not in good health and ask for a refund. Ok , so did you get the fish yet? what condition they are in?

I had a similar experience a few years back. I don't recall if it was FedEx or UPS. The online status was Delivered. The package was nowhere. I called them, they confirmed the delivery. Then I drove on my street and spotted a matching package at the front door of a neighbor house. It was mine. The address was correct but the driver delivered the package to the wrong hose. He went to the house "4185" not "4158" or so.

I Just entered the house and realized that the guy could have delivered it to nearby houses, so I walked wearing my socks for 30 mins house to house like a crazy person with a sad face. I guess I love mangroves, corals, pods and macroalgae that much. That's what was in the package that I never received.

That was me last night, walking up people's drives with a flashlight hoping to see a box with my name on it.
The package arrived late this afternoon. The most brilliantly colored yellow banded possum wrasse I've ever seen twirled a few flips and then fell to the bottom. The candy cane hogfish was more alert during DD's acclimation process and is currently hiding in the QT with the lights out.
I left the wrasse laying on the bottom in the dark as I've read multiple accounts of people thinking their fish were dead during acclimation only to find them swimming in the morning.
Various posts seem to suggest wrasses are notoriously fragile during acclimation so my hopes aren't too high.

No UPS No Fish

Wrasses usually play dead when you are handling them like this. I wouldn't be surprised to see him swimming around in a couple days.

I had a la delivery miss a Saturday delivery. It arrived Monday afternoon. 4 out of 10 fish were doa. The six remaining are still with me, healthy as snot. La refunded me for the 4 with only a single email from me letting them know they were doa.

Man I love you guys and this site, and so should a certain little yellow banded possum wrasse. If it wasn't for me reading just a few days ago about fish appearing dead after an extended shipment with no eye movement, no visually noticeable breathing I surely would have flushed the little fella that is currently tooling around pvc fittings in the QT.
Thank you guys so much!
Now I just have to wonder about internal organs and retardation.

Should I let the hogfish and wrasse rest a few days before possibly adding fish from lfs to the QT? Do you guys QT DD fish separately from lfs?

Quarantine all fish. If you add new fish cycle starts over and treat for 21+ days from the day of last addition.
