Noisy Iwaki 55RLT

The pump I use for my skimmer is getting quite noisy. I suspect the bearing is going out. Seems like somewhere I read an article on replacing the bearing on an Iwaki. Anyone know where I can find that? Also, I am contemplating replacing the Iwaki 55RLT with a Mag 9.5. My skimmer is an old AE Tech Evolution 750. It originally recommended an Iwaki 40 or 55.

Any thoughts on replacing my Iwaki 55RLT with a Mag 9.5 for an injection skimmer? I like the price and efficiency of Mag 9.5. I can't seem to find specs on the mag for PSI, but everything else looks good (I think, I hope!).

If your running a beckett skimmer you will be sadly disappointed with a mag for your skimmer. They are not pressure rated.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with a beckett skimmer. My skimmer is a spray injection type (I think). Is that a beckett?

Replacing the bearings in the pump that you have is easy.

I have the same pump and have replaced the bearings two times. The last set that I installed had a rubber seal, rather than the original metal one, to help reduce corrosion and make the bearing last longer.
The cost is about 15 dollars for the pair and I found them available locally.
FWIW I ran a beckett skimmer with a mag 24 both external and internal for several years and it ran quite well.

So I gather my AE Tech Evolution 750 is considered a beckett skimmer.

dgunn, how hard is it to replace the bearings? Would I need press to do this? Can I get a part # somewhere and order them before I tear into the pump? I'm just a wee bit leary of that, as I live out in the toolies, and it's a 100 miles to Boise.
