Noisy Seio 620

i just received two seio 620s for my tank. my first impression is the powerheads are noisy. when i have them running, i can hear and slight buzzing noise from each of the powerheads. both are making about the same noise, but one slight louder than the other. Before using the seios, i was using maxi-jets, which were extremely quiet. i couldn't even hear it. is this slight buzzing normal or do i have two defective powerheads? I want a very quiet setup, is there something that has high flow and is very quiet. my tank is a 50 gal (48 inch long), will a tunze stream 6060 work for me? thanks for any help.

Get used to it. I own seio's and they make a slight buzzing noise. The tunze 6060 is quiet. What kind of corals do you have in your 50gallon?
If you want high flow the 6060 is awesome. I have one in my 90 gallon

How do you have yours mounted? I can't hear my 820s at all. Sometimes I have to look at particles in the tank to make sure they are on...

well, i don't have any corals yet but plan to have mainly softies. i have two powerheads hanging on the back wall with the bracketry that came with the powerheads. i am thinking about retuning it and just buying a tunze stream 6060. is that going to be too much flow for a 50 gal for softies? thanks for you help.

I have mine mounted like this. The suction cups are there to absorb any vibrations from the motor, not hold it in place. The seio is held in place by the hang-on bracket that goes over the lip of the aquarium.

I have 2- Seio 820's and 1- 820 All of mine are dead quiet. Not a sound. Only way i can tell if they are running is by partical movement as well.

Its most likely do to you mounting. Vibrating on the platic trim of your aquarium. I recommend just using the suction cup mounts or Do a magnet mod-Or buy the new magnets that rescently came out for them.

I would never use JUST suctions cups to hold any powerhead in place. Eventually they will let go
Vibration is a likely source of noise
