Nominations for SCMAS Board of Directors.

o.k. I need to get clarification on the nominations, can you accept one or two positions? if so then who decides which one you actually get nominated for? I assume you can't get votes for multiple positions in case you win two of them otherwise the board 3-2 descisions won't work, things like that wouldn't work right?
I am new to this so please clarify for me.
chris

When the voting starts, there will be a post with the rules. The positions will be listed with the names, nominated for and accepted, for each position. When you vote you will have to specify who you vote for what position.

I believe you can only accept nominations for one position...this is new for all of us.

How about we do this just like High School Student Council? Rather than voting for a person to a certain office we simply vote for a person (or our top 3-5 people) rather than an office. Then once the votes are counted, the person with the most votes has first choice of office (usually president) and then we go down the list based on votes...??? Thoughts?

This was already discussed between the present board members and the decision was not to do it this way. Each position in the by laws has different duties, and someone will be stuck with something they may not feel comfortable doing. e made a decision to nominate by position, and that's how we need to move forward.

Guess I didn't get that communication... Going to be really tough for someone who is just interested in serving but can't accept nominations for multiple positions.

Example, Todd is running for President but if it's not voted in, he can't be considered for VP or any other position for that matter? If they don't get voted into one position they can't be considered for another? What's up with that?

Don't worry Calvin, I didn't get that communication either!

Ok here is what I have as far as a roll up for nominations and declinations;

Racer69 (Todd) - President, VP, Treasurer- Accepted Nomination for President

Deuce67 (Russ) - Treasurer, VP, Communications - Accepted Treasurer Declined Communications.

Reet (Rita) - Communications - Accepted

Huhhhhh (Tim) - Treasurer, Communications, Public Relations - Accepted Treasurer

ReefKoi (Chris) - President, VP, Treasurer - Accepted VP

NormanViking - Treasurer, Public Relations - Declined Treasurer

I accepted the nominations for Communications Murph, not Treasurer - heck, I have a hard time managing my own money! LOL Thanks for the update tho! :)

I have no problem not serving if it is for a position I am not able to do, ie communications or pr liaisons. If I don't get elected then that means there are plenty of people interested in serving and that is what I want as a member of the club.

I decline positon for Comm. I still accept position for treasure. Actually, its the only position I will accept.

So you are accepting all nominations?

Russ, I fixed it to show Treasurer only.

But if not elected president, wouldn't you like to be considered for VP? Same for Chris... I just think it's weak that if you don't get elected to one position you can't be considered/elected to any other.

alright i dont mean to butt in but im just wondering for my future knowledge....why do we HAVE to have head people....isnt the club doing great now!! i understand that there are people doing it now but it doesnt seem so formal...

cuz it sounds like this nomination stuff is a mess to me.......

just wondering....thanks

Kevin you don't see that several current board members have declined? They obviously are burned out or want new blood on the board, let it be o.k. Its a done deal this isn't going to change.

Anyway I am also fine if I don't get enough votes for a certain position, I don't feel the need to be involved at all if I don't get vp it's how voting works.

I think you need to accept nomination for the position that best suits your talents and stick with it, if the majority feels different and you lose, then you lose and move on.

Chris

alright i was just checking.....since i am somewhat in the club i just want it to run smooth and not everyone be *****ing at other people...

i never said i wanted it to change i just want it to be fun!!! thats all

no need to bust balls!!!

Not busting any balls here, you just keep stating the same thing, as if you don't want change. Change isn't bad, unfortunately a lot of people are so set in their ways they see change as a bad thing, it can be good also, I don't think anyone running for the board wants to ruin the club or anything, relax it will be ok there guy :)

I understand where you are coming from Eric. But what if I for instance were elected to both positions? I know that probably wouldn't happen but what if? I guess a person could then decline the elected position. I don't know as I am new to this also. All the other clubs that I have been involved with do nominations one evening at a meeting, and vote the next meeting. The whole internet forum thing seems to drag the process out, because there is time to dissect everything.

That being said, I feel if someone wants to be nominated for more than one position then that is possible. However, if elected to two or more positions, the next person with the most votes should get the position that is declined.

AYYYY, my head hurts.
