So, we got 3 chromis yesterday. This morning my wife and I were wondering where the 3rd one went. We just figured it died because it didn't acclimate well. We were trying to feed out maxi mini nem today and were wondering why it wasn't eating. Later today, we figured why it wouldn't eat and were the 3rd chromis went. lol. Here is a picture. It ate the chromis, digested it, and is spitting out the skeleton.

thats strange, i have never had problems with mini maxis eating fish, the chromis was probably not doing well as a result of poor acclimation and drifted into the anemone.

I acclimated properly. The other two are doing great. I just guess he wasn't as strong as the others. He seemed fine last night. I have heard of the maxi minis being aggressive. I thought maybe he was sleeping and drifted into the nem.

it's cool. :) I just meant I guess it didn't take the acclimation well. Or it drifted into the nem at night. The nem is super sticky and healthy (obviously lol) so for him to grab and hold a small chromis wouldn't be a problem.

What you're seeing is most like caused by a dead fish drifting by the anemone. I doubt very seriously that your anemone captured and killed a healthy fish. Not saying it's impossible, just highly unlikely. The 3" goby was dead when the 1/2" mini grabbed it. No way it could capture and kill a fish that size.

Chromis die. That's just what they do. They are shipped and stored in horrible conditions, with way to many crammed into small bags, and tanks. Sickness spreads, and they start dropping off. Your LFS probably removes one or two dead chromis from the chromis tank every morning before the store opens.
