Noob auto top off Q

Okay, I think I understand how the Tunze works- shut off/on sensors for too low and too high water amounts.
Now I'm guessing I still need another float switch for my RO holding container (10 gal. aquarium) that will shut off the RO water that fills it.
I have the water general/filter direct unit from flea bay. It has an auto shut off valve and 4 gal pressurized holding tank. Can I get a float switch locally or do I have to order one?

Hey Mike I appreciate it, is there anyway to mount those without drilling the tank. Or are there any float switches that I can hang onto a 10 gal.?
I'll let you know iof I need one or if I'm gonna order one. I'm not in a big hurry because I'm just adding rock, sand and water this weekend, then cycling. Figure without the lights I won't get mass evaporation.

They are made to go through the walls of a container. You'd have to build some sort of bracket if you don't want to drill the tank.

I'm an auto top off newbie. I just bought three of these float valves without figuring out exactly how I want to use them. My intent is to build an auto topoff system that is completely gravity driven - just like Reeferhead's.

A small rubbermaid tote might work just as well as a 10 gallon - and you drill it easily.

If you plumb your RO/DI directly to a tank via a float switch or a water holding container you should get an Auto Shut Off Valve.

Hmmm... so that will keep all of the TDS from entering into the top off?
I'd never seen that before and was wondering how the pro's kept that from happening.

I believe the auto shut off valve is used to shut off the feed to the RO. If you only use a float valve on in the topoff tank and nothing on the feed side then you't still have water flowing from the waste line.

And if you live in O'Fallon, Illinois that gets veeeerrrrrryyyy expensive!

I dont see an ATSO on that page for it.

Use you would want a float in your container. Thats what I do.

Scroll down to the top view. I know it has one because I had to take it apart when I first got it, it was sticking and not shutting off.

So even if I used a top mount float switch I still need to build some sort of rack to hold it.

Hey Farmer-you run the Tunze. Can I put both the low and high sensor on the same bracket and use the other bracket for my float switch? Guess I could stop being lazy and read the manual.

I wouldnt connect dirrectly to ro/di 2 words eric borneman

I don't think I'm talking about connecting directly to ro/di for top off, but the 10 gal. would be with the float switch. I will be running an ACIII.
Someone may need to explain this to me like I am one of my 14 year old sixth graders.

This is your setup, correct?

RODI ==>> 10 gallon ==>> main tank

The (RODI ==>> 10 gallon) would use an auto shutoff switch on the RODI that is connected to a float valve in the 10 gallon. This part is powered by gravity.

The (10 gallon ==>> main tank) uses a pump in the 10 gallon and a tunze ATO in the main tank. This part uses the solenoid on the Tunze to turn the feed pump in the 10 gallon on and off.

Is that you design?

Yeah and that's pretty much how I understand it, except I was going to put the sensors and top off in the return area of my sump. So it would be 10gal===>sump return. Not a good idea?
