alright guys im sorry if this sounds stupid and whatnot, but i tried researching and found nothing im 100% confident about.

my situation is i have a true perc and want a black clownfish

is there a such thing as a "black perc?" or are all black clownfish ocellaris

is there even a slim chance an ocellaris and a true perc could pair without killing each other?

thanks

There are several different black clown varients. The two I presume you're referring to are A. ocellaris and A. percula.
The former is usually completely black in it's adult form. The latter usually retains some orange pigment.
There are:
"SI Percs" - Perculas from the Solomon Islands which may be CB or WC
"onyx percs" - perculas that refer to being from a particular CB line. Rod's Onyx for example

Then there are:
"Darwins" - black ocellaris reportedly from Darwin AU.... Most black ocellaris blood lines originate off the coast of AU.
There are other popular names, but I'm having a brain fart right now.

...and yes, you can hybridize them but I wish people wouldn't. It will be hard to trace pure blood lines in 20 years.
I prefer naturally occuring hybrids. ;)
