Nook's 120g SPS Tank

I see a SLASH party in the making, while Dave is cooking you drill the tank. It will be a win/win, Dave's awesome cooking for the masses and he gets a hole drilled, the only thing that gets smashed are the participants. :D

Thats what we keep telling him

MacBook skip thiGH overflow and do Bernie or biannual much quite drilling glass ex especially thicker glass just keep bit wet you candlelit!!

OK, I am not sure I understand exactly what you are saying, unless it is that you think I should drill the tank? We have had several beers and several tanks destroyed by a feller named Mr DSmack and to be honest, I would hate to risk a $400 tank when I can use a proven Lifereef overflow....seriously, if you saw these yahoos you would be skeptical too.

Nice tank. I have a 4' 120 SPS dominate. Let me know when you're ready for SPS. I'll hook you up with some frags :)

Thanks, do you have a build thread? I am looking for inspiration:) Thanks for the very generous offer of frags, not many folks like you out there these days.

We can drill it!!!!!

Yeah, tell that to the last 2 tanks you have drilled:deadhorse1::bigeyes:

Load him up with some single malt and he will be brave enough to do with you. :bounce2:

Well, some good single malt always goes a long way to making me more mellow, but I doubt there is enough in my bar to make me brave enough to let Smackers anywhere near my new 120g!

Nook,

I read your thread from six years ago, but never saw any pictures of the tanks filled with water, fish and corals. How about some pictures? Great looking basement!

A few pics here before I killed off my SPS:

Thanks for the kind words...I live in this basement most of the time:D

Dave! Good to see you around again!

Thanks, I just saw your new bare bottom acro picture thread, looks promising:)

After he seen me with a few IPAs and breaking a 40, hes stuck on a overflow box:lmao:

Hmmm, I would need a money back guarantee and some new HELP bits...those last ones were pretty beat up and dull:D

Looking forward to your progress, best of luck.

Thanks! This new 120g is the first new system I have setup in the last 6-7 years and I really miss being able to take a system down and setup a completely new one. That is one of the disadvantages of an 1100 gallon, in-wall system:D You are kind of Stuck!

Dave if I could travel, I would come drill it for you, it is pretty easy, my glass is 12mm and it was smooth and easy, just noisy. Another SLASH party would be fun, it has been to long.

If I drilled it, would I use a glass holes overflow?

I did, very easy and it works well. It is surface skimming nicely with about 450 gph through it even with the large footprint of my tank.

Yeah, after watching a 8-year old and 12- year old drill holes without breaking them, I figured a trained monkey could do it....but Smack going all crazy got me scared!

It wasn't hard, I went slow and just let the weight of the cordless drill do the work, every few minutes I refreshed the water and flushed out the hole. I am sure there are a few people near who have done it.
