Nooo the flamehawk!! :(

So, I recently bought a flame hawkfish, and today, nowhere to be found, I find it dead.

My reasonx as to why:

Sixline wrasse attacked flamehawk all night before removing the sixline the next day, after I discovered what was occurring.
Could the injuries left behind have lead to the hawk's downfall?

Yes, severe stress and beating can be enough to cause a fish to die even after the stressor has been removed.

I'm mad I spent 50 bucks on the fish I've been always on the hunt for, for it to be killed by a sixline wrasse.
Now I see why the LFS 2 years ago wanted to get rid of the fish so badly.
If you are reading this - I don't reccomend anyone to buy a sixline, he's cost me over $200 worth of shrimp and fish.

Which, if you are an avid reader of this forum, is easily predictable. Sorry for your losses.

Poor old flame hawk!! I love them but they always seem to be the ones that get picked on. I have had a few before this one and, one of them jumped out of the tank, another one mysteriously disappeared!! I couldn't even find his carcass!! I suspected he was taken by a mantis shrimp but i had 2 clowns in the tank that were even smaller than him, and they were fine. I have had this guy for about a year and several times when he was small he got sucked out through the overflow!!! Now he's big enough to look after himself so i'm hoping i will have more luck with him. The tank is just not the same without a flame hawk.

I have a lyretail and a sixline in the same tank. My lyretail on occasion swoops down and kinda bothers my dottyback, and blenny but no one bothers him or nor does he bother anyone else. I dunno if your six line thought different of your hawkfish because yours is a flame and mine a lyretail. All fish personalities are different also, you never know.

its also much more difficult for fish to escape harassment in a smaller tank like yours. for what its worth if you get rid of the 6 line and get a new hawk it may end up killing other fish added after it. sorry for the loss.
