Nori vs. Seaweed Selects ?

Whats the difference between the two for feeding herbivorous fish? Any benefit over the other? Thanks Mile.

I've been using the dried nori with no additives from the local Asian market for years. No problems and I can get a package of 50 sheets, about the size of a sheet of paper, for 4 bucks.

My local Asian market sells fresh seaweed and kelp, both packed in salt to preserve them. A pound box is under $2. I cut off the size piece I want to feed, rinse off the salt and put it in the tank. I haven't seen any research, but it is hard for me to believe that the fresh seaweed isn't at least as good for the fish as the dried sheets. It looks nice in the tank, swaying in the current until something eats it.

I've used both the grocery store Nori and the Seaweed select brown aglae sheets. The Seaweeds select has a different texture and is a bit tougher to tear. My fish much prefer it over the regular Nori and some of the fish that don't care for Nori will eat the Seaweed Select.

It's much more expensive, but it's the first thing my Blonde Naso Tang would eat when I got him (now he eats everything) even when he rejected Nori.

if its packed in salt, its no fresher than the dried stuff.

I never tried the seaweed packed in salt, was afraid of it. I always feed the freeze dried Nori. I guess you don't have any problems?
