That’s right, today at around 4:00PM Dan and I stripped around 50 fry from his bangaii cardinals. They are so awesome, Dan and I did a make over on my 30 XT and put the fry in it. They are already gorging themselves on the Reef Nutrition Roti-Feast and schooling around in the tank.

Pics to come soon.

Hey Cris, what are your thoughts on groups of these. I wanted to add a few but have read that they will end up pairing and the rest will die off. Should I wait till they get a little bigger and add just 2? I have one right now thats been with me for years do you think then I should only add 1 of these new ones?

Hey Chris-

The rest of us mortal folk don't have the luxury of a 600 gallon reef :). That really opens up some doors for you. My opinion is that you could add a small group with relatively few problems. Steve Hurlock has a group in his 500 gallon that were my babies from a few years ago. He put in 10 and still has 5-6. They kind of hang out in separate quarters but don't seem to fight. The downtown aquarium has a sizable school and who knows "who's with who". These babies won't be ready to go into a reef tank for a few months. They also have a tendency to "shock". Turning on the lights, during feeding time, when the Nuggets are out of town. Meaning that it just happens and it is hard to predict. I have read that it is a nutritional issue that causes it to happen. You can revive them sometimes with a little water flow from a turkey baster.
Anyway, when the time comes you should put in a small group of 4+. I think eventually they will pair off but you have the room to host a couple of pairs. IMO.
