That's a very subjective question! If I was doing a small aggressive tank, I would probably put in a pair of blue throat of crosshatch triggers (I just love them), a smallish eel, and some damselfish...I know that sounds cruel, but they have it coming!

For feeding fun a wrasse or lionfish, depending on the aquascaping.

Miniatus grouper, Crosshatch trig pair, Dragon Eel (true Baller), Banana Moray Eel(Still Baller) and of course a show size lion and puffer. Yeah and some damsels for snacks.

Couple updates:

The tank has cycled 9 days with 1.024 salinity, live sand, and rock. I shut the skimmer off and fed the tank with frozen shrimp cubes to jump start the bacteria and dirty the tank.

I have around 640lbs of sand in the tank (including 40lbs or 3" DSB in refugium). I probably will add another 20-40lbs to finish the tank and fill all the bare spots.

I need to purchase my lighting, get a rack built and probably 7-10 more days and I will start to add a group of chromis to the tank. Lastly, I need to hook up the auto-top off's on all the tanks and I should be ready to hook up the reactors and controller and get started on my final fish and coral list.

Here is the baseline for the tank. Pictures taken 8/4/2008

With that stark white rock, it's very hard to appreciate the depth of the aquascape.

It'll look awesome once you've got some coral stock in there to give that sence of scale.

Very nice!

I have not gotten my controller yet, thus have only kept the tunzes at full blast in the tank for the last month or so. The controller should be here in the next week or two and then I can get the tank "dancing".

Yes, the white rocks look very bland and really give no depth perception. My wife is a much better photographer than I am...she actually does it for money. So when the tank does get up and running I will get better pictures. The tank does look much different in person as you would expect.

On a side note, I have decided to move the aggressive tank for the third time. This time it will be located in the theater room (still in basement) and all the plumbing and such will be housed in the mechanical room (directly behind theater). This will allow a better view area and will allow for a much bigger tank with much bigger fish. The theater room will not be effected by sound and smell due to components held in the mechanical room. The tank dimensions will be 84"L x 36"W x 30"T or something in the 450 gallon range. I am just waiting for a price and its a done deal.

Awesome build Reefaquariumnut. This is going to be one innovated reef. Scott (spazz) did some incredible work on your setup, he truelly is a master of his craft.

I am in the process of setting up a 450 and got my rock from the same place you did, and the stuff is amazing! I also love your woodworking on the frot of the tank to frame it in. I will be building something similar, awesome so far!

I am very lucky to have had all the help and knowledge of Scott. We are taking this process as slow and meticulous as possible to make sure we end up with a beautiful, fully-automated reef. Even though I think I will like the reef more than the aggressive tank, I am actually more excited for the aggressive tank to be done. I would assume we will be running both with some livestock around November-ish.

My brother-in-law is working on a cool website for me that will have the ACIII attached to it as well as 3-4 video cameras monitoring the tanks, room, and equipment.

Thats all I have for now. Can't really do much more until i get the ACIII Pro and Scott to hook up the reactors, lights, resevoir tanks, float switches, etc.

Scott and I have been in discussions to create a "monster" shark and ray tank. I am doing a bit more research to make sure I have ample room, time, and wife support to undertake such a project. :)

I am looking at keeping the tank in my theater room and housing what I can under the stand and the rest in the mechanical room behind the tank. If I decide to take on this new project I will be starting a new thread in this forum.

I won't get into all the details, but the tank is over 1000 gallons.

ok, you have my attention now, go for it! :D

I would love to have a large reef, several thousand gallons with top to bottom of the food chain, sharks to small fish, would need quite a large tank for sure but how cool would that be? :smokin:

Sounds like Scott found me a "steal" on material and i am just waiting to hear back from the finance manager (wife) to see if the project will get approved. Also, I want to get the 600 up and running before I get to carried away.

As far as the 600 goes, I have some chromis coming tomorrow, and hoping to get scott up this way in the next few weeks to finalize the plumbing and controller installation.

You are absolutely right, especially when your talking about huge sheets. It will be a very good fall/winter project for me while I get the 600 to stabalize and ramped up for coral. I am going to house sharks, rays, eels, triggers, puffers, angels, groupers, etc. I would like an extremely aggressive tank with some soft and LPS coral in it as well. Everything is still in discussion and once we get materials I will start a new thread with all the details.
