If you can keep your ph above 8 running ca reactor 24/7 you are doing great. A .3 ph swing over 24 hours isn't excessive IMO.

But to get back to this lighting thing...How can I get rid of the interference? or is there such a thing?

On another note. Should i be dosing anything else into my tank other than kalk and calcium?

Lighting: Go to the Neptune Forum and ask. You will get a good answer. It has never happened to me so I cannot help you with it.

Dosing: The most notable reef keepers I get advice from and trust their skill, do not dose anything other than kalk and Ca, but most are using Gen-X/Schuran type media that is essentially coral bones containing a lot of other important elements.

How is your magnesium level in the tank? Seems like I have to add a lot to mine.

That's what I use and it is really IMO the best. I have a 50lb. bag I can get rid of BTW, but I am not sure what the forum protocol is on that.

Thought I would add a little from the package:

Media:

Calcium = 381,000 ppm

Carbonate = 590,000 ppm

Strontium = 7390 ppm

Magnesium = 1050 ppm

Potassium = 56 ppm

Hard Coral:

Calcium = 365,900 ppm

Carbonate = 590,000 ppm

Strontium = 6550 ppm

Magnesium = 791 ppm

Potassium = 50 ppm

So I am not sure exactly how that is possible since it appears to be made of coral bones, but it would explain why I never have an issue with magnesium.

My magnesium seems to be fine at like 1440 to 1480 in last 45 days.
Which salt mix are you using?

My personal house is fine yet, but I own 50 properties around town and some have had some wet spots but nothing major yet...knock on wood.

That gets scary. We get a lot of that over here, so I bought a house on a gentle slope so any rain or ground water would flow away.

I use reef crystals and tropic marin pro. I am gonna order some D&D (Deltec?) pro salt next time.

On a weird note...

I came home today from a business trip which i have been gone since sunday to find alot of my corals are really starting to have nice polyp extension. Especially the ones that have never had it during the daytime. The only thing that has changed is the calcium and kalk reactors got pulled off a week ago and i was dosing Bulk Reef Supply 2-part. That seemed to not work very well as the corraline on the back panel was bleached out towards the top of the tank...Well on Sunday I bought ESV 2-Part A&B Ionic and its been a complete CHANGE!! Wow!

I am going to order some new lights...Could I do this on the IceCap 400W Ballasts? Would it look okay?

10k Ushio 20K Radium 10k Ushio

20k Radium 10k Ushio 20k Radium

Test that D&D when you get it. So why do you feel you need multiple colors? I only ask because I just use 20K and my tank looks great. I realize the higher wattage may effect what the human eye sees, but it sure is nice.

Also, don't forget to burn in the lamps before you put them over the tank. USe a spare ballast set up in a shop or garage, and burn them for 24 - 48 hours. This will knock off the most intense discharge they give out when first powered up, and will make it much easier on your corals.

Yup! I just happen to have an extra HQI Ballast. :)

Oh and multiple colors so the corals have a full spectrum of light...I heard 10k grows the best, but 20k looks the best. i have reflux 12k now.
