North Dakota Mini-Ocean

Yup, its actually 9 1/4' x 6'. It will be nice extra room for a couple people working on the tank. I am going to keep going with the mosaic on the new wall.

OK, that is a hallway across the area from te tank room....I was thinking that you were adding that into the fish rom as well

I think the Mosaic is a nice touch of something different, I agree with your decision to continue it to the new wall

I am going to put an order in for 4 x 6305's today (pretty sweet deal @ $650 each). I will pull the 2 x 6101's and use them on the frag tanks. I will then have 4 x 6305's and 2 x 6205's. The extra two 6201's will be saved for emergency or when the tank grows out for extra flow.

Where are you getting the Tunze's for $650.? That would be a heck of a price..

The 6101's should be perfect for those tanks. I assume one will be turned up faster than the other for the SPS vs LPS/softies?

The hallway? You mean the one in the 4th picture with the box? I can use it somewhat, but the Theater Room is to the right of that box. So I have to keep the room addition clean because we will have to walk through it to get to that room. It will be interesting to see how I can design the frag system to look nice and neat so my wife does not freak out. We don't use the theater room yet, but down the road we will and it will have to be nice so when guests come over it they won't mind walking though my tank room to get to the theater room. I want it to be a cool experience to walk through that room.

Champion lighting. 10% off through 12th and free shipping.

Yes, I will have one turned up full speed and the other one more at like 1/2 speed.

eah, I can see that posing an interesting challenge. I would jus treat the 2 frag tanks like display tanks, maybe even get a custom stand (and canopy maybe) built for them, that is how I keep Chantel from freaking out! :) Plus, I have never known Amy to be the freak out type!! :)

Before you start down the road of the theater, shoot me a PM, I can get most everything you would need at cost, and wouldn't mind setting everything up for you (another hobby of mine!)

I see the 10% discount for orders over $100, but how do you get the free shipping? Do you have to call?

enter through the tank room? wow! gonna be hard to keep to schedule lik ethat!

That mosaic across the wall? Man that's a lot of work...

Ben, the theater is all yours when we move forward!

I think the best thing to do is treat them like display tanks like you mentioned. That is actually what I thought as well. I will just have to keep everything nice and clean and in order.

Yup, just tell them you will put a huge order through and you want free ground shipping.

I am not doing the mosaic, so i don't care how much work it takes :) :) My artist buddy is taking care of that.

OK...this begs the question, will you hire help? Maybe once/week someone to come in to clean the tanks, change media etc.?

Honostly, I have trouble trusting anyone touching or messing around my tanks...I got really lucky to find the one guy who i have now, but he he moving to Hawaii in August. My wife is good to feed and dose, but she doesn't have the eye to see things going wrong.

So, Jon, I am not sure I will hire help. I will get my system as automated as possible and clean on the weekends (I am gone during the week).

Yeah, this is the problem I had too. The only people I really trust all have real jobs. The LFS guy could do it, but not at the level I require. Plus, it costs money.

You will have a tough time keeping up just cleaning on the weekends I am sorry to say. It can be done, but you will have other stuff come up (like life) and things will get behind. Anal-retentiveness can only carry you so far.

The kind of beer I like tastes better in a bottle :) :) Actually, i am more of a bourbon guy...

Then an appropriately sized refrigerator is a must!

... single malt for me :D

Exactly...I have 4 refrigerators and an ice machine in the basement. One for beer, one for wine, one for soda, and one for snacks (fish snacks, LOL)
