The tank is doing well. I have added an auto doser for my two part to make that easier. It is so nice not to have to physically pour two part into my tank every night. I have two single parastaltic pumps hooked up to a digital timer. My alk has been stable for the whole time the pumps have been running.
Corals are growing at what seems a slow pace to me. I do notice that all my corals are encrusting their bases. My red planet theat I thought I lost looks to be making a comeback. I see what looks like tisssue growth on one of the branches. My pink monti cap is still continuing to color up. Honestly, I thought it would be back to full color by now.
I lost my convict tang. Even though it was eating it just seemed to get skinny and weak. It eventially died. I don't plan on adding any more fish for awhile.
My tank is looking good. Nothing major has happened since my last post. SPS are growing steadily. Parameters have been steady. I have had to supplement my two part once but have not increased my dosing pumps. My corals must of been overeating for a bit.
I am looking to add a third MP40 now. The two I have now move the water pretty good but I think a third pump will cover the three foot span better.
I am admitting that my fish husbandry is not as good as my coral husbandry so I am changing that. I have been doing some research and have decided to use some vitamin supplements. I am adding it to my frozen food as well as soaking my nori. My powder blue and naso still will only eat nori. I have been doing this for about a week. I am interested to see if anything happens. Does anyone have any hints or secrets to keeping you fish healthy?
Shannonpayne86: The yellow tang is doing well as always. The powder blue is still battling ich. It never shows any signs of stress but has a little ich now and again. I am trying to fatten him up still and it is working slowly but surely. I am thinking that making the powder blue more healthy will decrease the ich. The one thing I am very happy about is that all my tangs get along.
D5HP: Thanks. I use two bulk reef supply dosing pumps with a digital timer from HD. The pumps are the ones that do like 1.7ml/min. It works out well. So much better then using a measuring cup every night. More time to watch the tank!
Tank looks great! Planning a similar build ... 72l x 30w x 26h. I have been thinking I will need 3 MP40s as well. Do you have your two mounted on back or on the side?
yoccm: Thanks. Where are you getting your tank from? As for the mp40's:I have mine mounted on the right side of the tank. I have them set in long pulse mode which gets a goood wave down 3/4 of the tank. I think a third mp40 would get the wave all the way down to the other side. I plan on adding a third mp40 soon.
I am considering a local builder (near Detroit) called Great Lakes Aquarium. I am still undecided though. I am starting to think seriously about a 72l x 36 w tank like yours which they do not make. I think the extra depth would make for great aquascaping. I have heard great things about AGE b ut figure the total cost after crating and shipping to Michigan might make it cost prohibitive. Also looking into the Marineland 300G DD.
wow, very nice tank Lowman. that is a fantastic size. i am planning one like this in the far future. Did you call AGA and order or did you have to go through a local dealer? i hope they will take direct order and shipping. the LFS here try to get my whole body and not just a limb for the price they are asking. Thanks.
Mind me asking how much the A.G.E. Tank put you back?
That is really the ideal setup for me. I also like the idea of the beveled back edge with an outside overflow. I have been so focused on budgeting for all the equipment I have been kinda cheeping out on the tank. It is pretty important to get that right so I think I need to reprioritize my budget!
