Northbay aquatics

I generally don't talk to Tim and usually never got a warm feeling from him. The last two times he's been more than great. I have no idea what happened. I'm starting to come around to Northbay especially their prices are getting cheaper for corals. Saw 3 large colonies of palys at $39.99 a piece with uncommon colors which you generally don't see. If anyone see the same thing please jump in with your experience. I just had to write something since everything has always been an alright experience or no experience at all. I guess its because I talked to Ray the whole time.

Prices don't matter if health / quality is not there. Some of the items I've seen there recently I wouldn't accept if they were given to me.

I've been visiting NBA since their small store on the other side of the freeway. What I've noticed in the last 6 months or so are turn over of employees (generally not a good sign), expansion of coral displays (a good thing) and decreased health of all the saltwater critters (bad thing).

I get sad when I see lots of fishes flashing in various tanks (parasites?). And when I see soft corals going limp and disintegrating (water quality?). And sps that generally lack color (lighting? water quality?).

It seems to me that management is trying to expand but the day to day care of the livestock is suffering.

I hope they pull it together. I really do. And not just because I live in Petaluma and NBA is much closer than Caesars!

Last time i went in there they had more flat worms then the ocean.

Ha,ha,ha I remember your post Clay and did a flatworm exit dip. Actually, that's been my dip with zoa/palys now ever since reading an article in regards to using that particular product.

Reef Bass, I guess I was refering to corals that haven't been there that long or even when they get a new shipment in. I do agree with you that 30-40% of their corals look horrible, especially their SPS/acans. For me, I don't expect anything rare from them but rather diamonds in the rough if I stumble on something. Plus, low prices doesn't hurt when your taking that chance. Thanks for the input guys.

I have noticed a drop in prices regarding fish. I have bought my last 5 fish from there and they are perfectly healthy.thay even beat petco which used to be the cheapest around here. havent seen anything in the way of corals that I find attractive but I will keep on looking from time to time and tim was very freindly to me seemed very down to earth.

how ever I did see a coral at caesars I liked (Horn coral) anybody got a frag of that let me know.

I'm not affraid.
