Norwegian 140g sps tank

Hmm, there was a post over #240 yesterday from some guy that I had a good camera, but now it's gone:eek1:

Here's more pictures.

This was fragged from a big colony that was imported as Acropora Caroliniana. My frag look more similar to Lokani perhaps?

Acropora Suharsonoi.

Acropora frag.

Acropora Desalwii.

Acropora Tenuis (?).

Acropora Millepora.

Montipora Danae.

Montipora Undata.

Thank you :)

Here is a stag. It's supposed to have blue corallites. Pain to take pictures of.

IMG_0519.jpg

Acropora Granulosa.

IMG_0524.jpg

Montipora Undata/Verruculosus (imported as Undata).

IMG_0529.jpg

Haven't seen this Acropora Loripes from above in a couple of months. Took a frag yesterday and was suprised that the corallites in the base was beginning to get a red color. Looking forward to see if this Loripes will color out. Hard to take picture with one hand and holding the coral with the other, that's why the quality is so poor.

Your collection is unreal. Its hard enough to get some of those "named" corals in Canada, I can only imagine what it is like in Norway.

Great stuff.

Great looking tank. I really like the growth and tank progression pictures!

Thank you :)

Thanks Darryl, your tank is an inspiration to all of us sps freaks:celeb2:

Most of the sps in the area is from Indonesia or Bali. Not been an import from the US in a couple of years as far as i know. So ORA and other "names" from the US is almost impossible to get my hands on.

very nice...photos and livestock

Thank you :)

Here's a new batch of pictures!

Not sure about ID on this one. I thought it was Acropora Valida when I got it, but not so sure now. This has had an "unlucky" position in the tank. Now it's on the sand to get some light. And it is beginning to color up again now. I only call it Acropora sp. purple/green. It's too big for my tank so I will probably sell it. Just need to get some color on it first, brown corals are hard to sell:spin2:

IMG_0581.jpg

Had to move my Awi (former Multiacuta) down to the bottom too. I saw that it was beginning to loose some tissue at the bottom base. When I moved it I saw three gigantic Aiptasia at the rock where the corals was placed. I hate those Aiptasia! My Chelmon show no interest in them and I am starting to get angry:headwally:

IMG_0582.jpg

This Turaki is getting huge! Almost drowns the Setosa and Caroliniana.

IMG_0589.jpg

Good growth on the Montipora Australiensis too. Almost to good if you ask me. Some of the encrusting Monti's in my tank is starting to take too much space.

IMG_0594.jpg

A frag of an Acropora Desalwii.

IMG_0596.jpg

My Acropora "Pearlberry" (unsure of the correct ID though) is my jewel in the tank. The color is ok too?

Please try to look away from the Cyano at the bottom. I'm trying to get rid of it, but it's not easy. Been adding Coral Snow for a week, but it's still there. I've taken out the cyano manually a couple of days in the week. But it doesn't help a bit. What to do? I've started to not care about it anymore and I hope it will get tired of annoying me and slowly get the ** out of my tank on it's own.

Hey man, i'm lost for words, your corals are unreal! Thumbs up!

About the cyano: I've had similar problem, all the bottom were covered with the same color cyano. What was really confusing, is that all the water parameters were spot on! Here's the real problem: It looks like you never siphoned your bottom and thats where the sand bed becomes a detritus trap/bank and then becomes a nutrient factory. After i started siphoning my bottom, it was gone! Just a food for thought

Good luck!

Thank you :) I'll start to siphon the sandbed. Hopefully it will help me too :)

It's so frustrating that this forum only allow 10 pictures (sometimes it's not even 10 pictures in the post, but I still get this maximum allowed 10 pictures error message:deadhorse:). Here's batch number two with pictures.

I think this Acropora Suharsonoi is finished color-wise. And I'm happy :)

IMG_0584.jpg

A few Ricordea's.

IMG_0586.jpg

This Acropora Hyacinthus has become very white in the base of the coral. Not sure why. The coral seem healthy enough. Good PE.

IMG_0614.jpg

Bought this at my LFS. Not sure about ID. I think this has potencial.

IMG_0619.jpg

Acropora Formosa (stag). I love its simpleness.

IMG_0625.jpg

This was imported as Acropora Orbicularis. Not sure if it is the right ID.

IMG_0630.jpg

Acropora Hyacinthus/Prostrata. Damn aiptasia is stinging the coral on the left side. So it will only grow to the right and straight up.

IMG_0636.jpg

Acroproa Secale. The base on one of the branches is getting a white-ish color. I hope this is normal, the tissue seems healthy.

IMG_0638.jpg

Lol everthing look healthy to me!!!! Nice!!!

Thank you. I hope it stay that way too :)

You'll be surprised how much black/brown stuff comes out of your substrate :)

I'll let you know :)

Here's more pictures.

Acropora Granulosa. Still some dead tissue. Don't know why. The color is starting to come back. Yey :)

IMG_0639.jpg

Montipora Undata/Verruculosus. This is getting more purple color after I moved it higher in the tank.

IMG_0644.jpg

Acropora Valida (I think).

IMG_0650.jpg

Acropora Tortuosa.

IMG_0654.jpg

Acropora Echinata/Turaki.

IMG_0656.jpg

Uknown Acroproa. This was mounted very close to the MP40 pump. It didn't like the heavy direct flow. After I moved the pump this Acropora look healthier and is starting to get some color.

Beautiful corals as always. How high above the waterline is your light unit suspended?

I am very surprised at the coral colour - what I mean is that most T5 systems yield pale SPS coral colour. In your system the T5's are producing very nice coral colour; there is a depth and shimmer in the coral flesh thats missing from a lot of T5 run systems. Well done my friend.

Are you dosing anything other than the Calcium and Alk and the coral snow?

Thank you. I am very happy with my ATI Sunpower :) It's usually about 15cm above the waterline. Now it's around 30cm because I changed bulbs in february.

I currently dose Kalium (potassium I believe it's called in English), Amino Acids and Sponge power. I used to dose B-Balance from KZ, but I ran out a couple of months ago. Didn't bother to buy more and I can't see any difference either way.

I forgot to mention that I bought an O3 Generator. Haven't started with ozon yet. But will in a couple of days.

What is the Ozone being added for? If its for the Cyanno, unfortunately, it wont work to eradicate the cyanno. I used it on my tank and it didnt work.

BUT: Ozone will make your water crystal clear!

Yeah I know. I want crystal clear water and to kill possible parasites (I'm soon getting an Achilles Tang) ;)

Forgot to ask, since you changed the bulbs last month, what is your current bulb lineup?

I changed to this, very happy with the combination:

ATI Blue plus
ATI Aquablue special
ATI Blue plus
ATI Purple plus
ATI Blue plus
ATI Aquablue Special

What is your feeding routine, Maskinsmyg? Fish and corals, also what type of food? Thanks!

I feed once a day with pellets, then flake (both from Ocean Nutrition (formula one and two + brineshrimp flake from ON) and in the evening some candy for the fish (frozen artemia, mysis, angel formula, ++). I feed my corals with reef pearls once in a while. I feed my LPS with a blaster.

I also add Coral snow once a day (mostly to get rid of the Cyano) and Sponge Power once a day.
