Not a typical doctor's waiting room... 450 gallon reef

Wow, thanks for all the information! quite a mix going on there.

I've saved this for future use, since I think I will let my own tank mature a bit longer before I mess with this stuff :) But its definitely intruiging.

John,
I'm another true believer in Zeo additives. I don't dose any of the carbon sources though, only the VSV mixture.

I really, really like Xtra. I think that alone has helped my growth. I dose mine during the week. I'm currently using PCS, Xtra, CV, AAHC, PIF, and Fe. I'm not 100% sold on the PIF and Fe either, and if I dose 1 drop too much, I get some extra algae growth, so I know I have to be careful with those.

I thought Mike was against dosing zeo on this tank? Perhaps he meant full Zeo or his new tank. I can't remember.

Hurry up and get that frag tank up and running. You may be housing my corals for some time in the future. (I'll send you a pm and give you the low down at some point.)

True, I don't want to run the full Zeovit system on this tank, since it's in my office and I can't commit myself or my staff to pumping the zeolith rocks daily and adding the bacterial supplements that are critical to the success of a full zeovit tank. But if John wants to add the 'color-enhancing' supplements, then more power to him (and the tank!).

Makes sense.

You don't want to have your nursing staff with huge forearms from the pumping. Might be a little frightening.

...however they do make auto-plunging zeo reactors now....

stunreefer - Correct about the auto-reactors for zeovit, but I haven't been impressed with their reliability as of yet, and I really want to keep the office tank less complicated. It really needs to be able to run itself. I do plan to run Zeovit on my next tank.

m0nk and erics3000 - Thanks, glad you like!

I came here directed from the corner tank thread. Wow! I am amazed at the quality of your corals and fish. The maintenance on this tank is meticulous. Great job!

I've had the pleasure of seeing this tank in person multiple times over the past six to seven months. I'd like to add that the pictures Dudester posted do not accurately "paint the picture" of this reefs beauty. This tank is one of my "Dream" tanks I guess you could say.

John- How about getting Jennifer overthere and taking some real pictures?

Mike- Just make sure you keep you hands out of the tank ;)

put one in your ER doc! ;)
The drug addicts would be trying to eat the corals to see if they could get high, and the rest would be trying to figure out a way to steal it from the waiting room.

Staff lounge! Too small? Time for an upgrade! Hit up the admin(I know, good luck.)

Mike's tank makes me want to switch to pedi office work! 'Course, not much work would get done. :)

Thanks to everyone for their remarks ... except for Clint!

We've added a Vortec for extra flow and we acquired an additional pump to feed the skimmer, which became necessary due to the massive coral growth, and we still need more flow! We lost a couple colonies due to RTN and excessive shading, but nothing that was irreplaceable. We also added a UV sterilizer. Hopefully John will comment on these additions at some point. Lastly, we finally got the builder of the office to properly slope the fish room floor to the center floor drain (duh!) and the floor was lined with a tile surface. This was a great improvement, and we are now ready (almost) to install our frag tank.

Thanks for the continued interest in this tank.

We're going with T5's. I'd love to hang a Powermodule over that sucka, but we may need to downgrade. The Aquatinics Constellation is a nice fixture too, I believe it's actively cooled. Any other suggestions?

Since I've never used any thing but the ATI fixture I'd say I'm a sucker for that. Maybe Steve will buy and extra one and sell it to ya cheap. ;)

If i have an extra one i would send it to Mike for free lol...

Mike, something is wrong with your camera or your hand shaking too much...
