Not in my yard!!

First off I did NOT take this picture. I got it in an email and thought it was amusing so I thought I would share it with you all. Per the email, the dude is over 6' tall, about 250 pounds, and the deck is two feet off the ground. BTW, this is a female moose. I'm also over 6' and have come pretty close to them (not QUITE this close though!) and if you haven't seen them in person, these creatures (the largest of the deer family) are pretty darn big. This was in Canada. From what I have read the Canadian and Alaskan Moose are considerably bigger then the ones in the "lower 48" like in the Grand Tetons. BTW, this dude is nuts.

Enjoy....

I've seen that before :) Do you know the name of the dude? I'm almost positive it's my uncle Chuck, he does this... I've been there when he does it. I cant quite see his face but it looks exactly like him otherwise.

This same moose has been coming to their house over the last couple years, I've fed it carrots out their kitchen window but the paint looks different on the house so I'm not sure it's him. I dont go over there much though, so I could be wrong!

LOL - I have no idea. I got it in an email and it said it was from somewhere in the Lower 48, but who knows. I figured he had been feeding it and probably had it take food from his mouth.

Personally I prefer to keep wildlife wild. The last thing I want is a 1500 pound animal approaching me wanting to eat my carrot!!

LOL - yeah, I'm thinking tounge action for this young lady would be sloppy at best!

Great picture, insane man. He must feed her. The moose that come into my yard would charge if I even walked towards them.

yeah, he must feed them. I have had moose in my yard, and also run into them (almost literally sometimes) on the trails. Though in general I think they are pretty predictable (usually) there is still a buffer zone that needs to be maintained. I'm sure this guy has been feeding her. That won't be happening in my yard either. Not because I don't have the oppotunity, it is just not healthy for the animals. Not to mention the unsuspecting humans they then try to approach for handouts at a later date.

This Moose was in my yard, fending for itself :) (and these are my images). It sort of looked and evaluated me when I went out on the deck, then just went about her business. In general they do not precieve us as a threat if you move slowly, and watch their ears and hackles you can tell when they don't want you around or if you're in their space.

Your moose are clean too. Look at all the burrs this guy has. And most that come here do. He's a very young moose. And I'm no photographer. :D

LOL - what the heck happened to that dude!?! Did he tangle with a bear or something?

WHat is funny to me that my mom was looking at one of my shots and asked why it looked like a horse. I was sort of baffled and then she said it looked like it had a mane. Starnge that she never noticed but in fact they sort of do. Looks like that moose of your needs someone to brush him out!! I've seen them look scragly in the spring or early summer but not usually with snow still around.
