Wennerae are small mantis...an entire supermarket shrimp would be a LOT for them to handle! I have one and she happily eats flake food meant for carnivorous marine fish. They can be picky eaters if they aren't used to a food item, and they should have meaty food, but other than that, they aren't hard to feed. Hunger is a good motivator for getting a mantis to eat something more convenient for the aquarist.

hmm frozen like rock solid?? I dunno if it would try to crack it or not, I would say feed the shrimp, and once in a while toss in a hermit or snail for exersize...you can feed baby crawfish, The n. wennerae is very small so I dunno if he could handle a crawfish.... just feed him shrimp and toss in a shelled critter once in a blue moon
