Are there really that many salt water hobbyists in Alaska, that a LFS can afford to waste that much $ on 2 fish that don't seem to have a great survival record?

That's what I'm thinking too. It will be interesting to see if they actually get them. A fish store is a pretty tough business I can't imagine more than a couple in the US could swing the risk of peppermints.
