what are your opinions on not QT'ing certain species of fish because of certain needs? ie Christmas Wrasse likes to bury itself in the sand at night, diamond gobies, mandarins, fairy wrasses etc. Or do you feel that all species should be QT not matter what and why?

I QT Everything!! QT isn't just putting a fish in a bare tank and throwing meds into it. QT is also putting the fish into a calm tank with no other fish to compete with and allowing it to rest from the stress of capture, transportation, handling, etc.

If you are buying a fish with special needs then I think you should provide those special needs in a seperate tank before you put it into a community tank. Allow the fish to rest, start eating and observe it for any disease.

You should Qt all fish .. no exceptions. Keep in mind the fish that your discussing go through a distibution system where there are no substrates, live rock etc. Use some common sense and provide live food if that is required.

when i QT the only thing i dont QT is my mandarin becaus they secrete toxins which prevent them from getting ich. My cleaner wrasse and shrimp sort the parasites out but fin rot and other diseases usually heal themselves within a few days

Mandarins have a thicker mucas lining which helps with ich problems .. but they can/do get ich and while ich deaths are rare lack of QT allows them transport ich into an aquarium that is otherwise ich free.

I thought it stopped them getting it all together
