Not Your Average 29...

Hey,

I just thought I would post a few pics of my new system. It's a 29 gal with a false back/internal overflow complete with an external Durso to conserve real estate. Its hooked into a 40 gallon custom sump with a built-in inline skimmer, large refugium and return area. The skimmer runs on a Sedra 9000. The stand is also custom built with a power box containing timers and a thermostat for my titanium heater.

The sump, stand and overflow were built by Steve Phelps at engineeredaquariums.com He did a great job and the result is better than expected.

I'll post more pics once I plumb it up and get my Live Rock into it.

Let me know what you think.

Very nice setup! To be honest it does appear your tank could have been bigger given the size of the cabinet and sump.

Thanks for the compliments.

The sump and stand are purposely oversized so I can get a bigger tank when I can afford it. On my student budget, a 140 gallon Starphire complete with lights isn't quite attainable yet.

I'm getting my Live Rock tomorrow so I'll try to post some more pictures then.

That's a hot setup.

Can't wait to see more.

That's a killer skimmer you are running. Sedra 9000 is used on the larger ASM skimmers.

Great job.

Wow thanks for all the compliments.

I got my Live rock today. I got 40 Lbs. of Vanuatu. It looks great. I've got it in the tank now and will take some pictures of it when the water clears up a little more.

HotRod68Camaro - I'm guessing that the sump is holding about 25-30 gallons (give or take a few) while running.
