....

*Note1*: do not open the canister filter even if it is turned off while over the carpet.

*Note2*: Power Strips do really burn up if water is poured on them while on.

*Note3*: No matter how many papers towels you use the carpet will still be soaked.

lol ... the last note on my list goes something like this:

Note N+1: Remember that I'm an idiot, and very likely to repeat many, if not all, of the actions that led to Notes 1 through N.

p.s. I loved note 2. Much to my friends amusement and the maintenance staffs displeasure, i learned a great deal about electricity and conductivity of fluids in high school. And, as Forrest Gump would say: That's all Im' gonna say about that ...

power strip - o - death

power strip - o - death

Haha... both my power strip and I learned the same lesson when my skimmer decided it wanted to kindly assist me with a water change. :D

Maybe by rapidly overflowing and spewing water out the top, the skimmer's intention was to teach me how finicky it is.... Mission accomplished!

i try to keep my power strip panel to the side or above the tank. and always keep a loop of cord hanging down below the strip so water wont run down the cord to the strip from the tank top.
as for water, i just keep about a dozen of those white shop towels around to wipe my hands and stuff, and a couple bath towels for bigger spills. lots of salt in my rug.

What kind of lighting do you have? looks pretty bright.

The proverbial loop has saved much of my equipment and should be a requirement for all aquarists. You just never know when that (fill in the blank) is going to overflow.
And then of course is the broken heater lesson also. Never put a hand in the tank unless I'm standing on something other than the floor lol.
