Now this isn't something you see every day... **VID**

I am no expert. But i just wrote a paper on Bristleworms. I came across some info on fireworms that when mating the femals glow green, and the males use a flashing response to attract a female. I would say it is a errant polychaete trying to reproduce....

Have you considered getting a grounding probe? :D :D :D

I have no idea what kind of critter that is, but you can try googling luceferin and luceferase if you're interested in the biochemistry behind it all.

Hi,

Sorry, I have a slow dial up connection (that is all I can get in the boonies), so I don't down load multiMbyte connections. :twitch:

From your description, you were seeing some bioluminescence in/on some of the worms. Some years back, one of the vendors used to see sell "bioluminescent" worms. So, this behavior is not at all uncommon. The bioluminescence is likely caused by bacteria living on the worm, and probably has nothing to do with the worms themselves.

Coincidentally, from today's issue of The News of The Wierd:

"In November, to calm down a growing number of apparently horrified Australians, the Food Authority of the state of New South Wales issued a statement assuring people that meat in their refrigerators that appears to glow in the dark is actually harmless. Said the authority's director, the light-emitting bacteria responsible for the glow "is not known to cause food poisoning" and, actually, is naturally present in most meats and fish. Ya gotta luv it ....

Cool! Thanks.. the worm re-appeared last night, and just watched it for a while...

All it really did was cruse around where I originally saw it. Now i'll wait a few months, and check to see if this worm will reproduce. Hoping to get a few in the tank....

I would LOVE to see the video, but the link says it's expired, sounds awesome though! Now I'm gonna watch at night more carefully ! :)

Dymaxiun, could you please repost the video? I'm a worm specialist & would dearly love to see it!
Thanks, Leslie
